The Homewood Suites by Hilton New Orleans French Quarter offers a decent base for exploring the French Quarter, with some positives including its location and included amenities like breakfast and evening social hours. However, recent reviews highlight persistent cleanliness issues, particularly with bathroom filth and bed linens, alongside frustrations with inconsistent service and maintenance problems such as faulty toilets and television issues.
We received early check in so that was good. However, $80 a day for a deposit was unacceptable due to the fact that this is not a high end hotel….. We were on the 4th floor. The hotel had a pleasant smell- unlike the rest of the French Quarter. The long hallways were beautiful and seemed to be recently remodeled. The room itself was quiet, and a nice size, except you could hear the building settling a lot at night. This is evident when looking at the cracked trim near the ceilings. However, we know what is happening below us in NOLA so this is normal. Housekeeping... Our room was stocked with a used cleaning sponge in the kitchen that I tossed ??, a rusted trash can —that remained in the hallway for two days before being addressed even after asking on night one, and used dish detergent. There were also some things like small beads left on the bathroom floor behind the door from other customers and sticky floors near the dishwasher. We did not feel confident in using the dishes due to these mishaps. We were concerned that they may not be clean. We got more towels after the first night that were not laundered before and left lent on our bodies after showers. New towels are great but they should be washed first. The tile floors on the kitchen and bathroom are not mopped with water and antibacterial substances and should be. Their company probably doesn’t require them to do this but they should ?There were small traces of mold in the shower due to aging and repeat moisture I’m assuming. That can be easily addressed with bleach. Housekeeping came in to clean on the second day and replaced towels. 4 washcloths should be given to 2 customers, not 3…. They were nice. We had remaining issues with the television going in and out despite several maintenance /building engineering employees visiting the room to attempt to resolve the issues with it. It took a while before anyone could address my issue as there was one employee running the hotel by himself and he seemed frustrated. He gave me his managers business card. He was very pleasant all other days when help was available. The “engineer”that was first sent up to resolve the tv issue was not very kind and told us, “Do not move the TV.” We were in a suite so the TV is mounted on a swiveling mount so that it can be moved….After speaking to a supervisor and several others, we eventually just let it go and dealt with a flickering TV that still blinks off and on... Breakfast was as expected. There was a lot of pork on the buffet but several offerings of foods for people that don’t eat meat. The chicken tacos were confusing to me. I enjoyed the grits and potatoes. It would be nice to have a basic creole sauce available. Turkey sausage was sparse but the best meat that was offered when it was available. Turkey kielbasa is just as good as pork. You should make the substitution. The scrambled eggs were watery. Boiled eggs would be a nice offering. I liked the waffles. They also stored our bags after checking out as we had a late flight. I had two bags. One wasn’t ticketed and therefore not given to me at pick-up. I had to ask for it at pickup. We mainly stayed here because we vacationed for 5 days and the price was decent. It wasn't horrible at all, I’m just giving feedback on small things that can improve to make the overall stay much better. Would recommend to others who are looking for a budget stay in the future.
We checked in May 29. We were greeted by David I'm front desk service. He was welcoming, friendly, and courteous. We left our luggage with him and walk the town. We opted in for early check in and they never called. We went to front desk and talked with Virginia. My experience with her was not professional. I was in line and she looked and me and basically asked what I wanted. I had questions about our early check in and what was going on. She had a slight attitude and said they'll call us when they have a room. (Understandable) But the attitude and agressiveness behind it was not what I was expecting especially being in the industry. We loved this hotel, the area and other staff. They're all so polite and accommodating. Virginia just wasn't someone we appreciated at being the face of your business. She wasn't friendly nor was she welcoming. Aside from my family and i's experience with her, our time here was great!
We just checked out after 4 nights with our family for our sisters birthday. David who helped us at the front desk was amazing. David put us on an early check in list and held our luggage until we was able to Check in. We walked around and ended up at the pool waiting . Kept checking in with front desk and Virginia was not friendly . My sister stood in line waiting and Virginia said “do you need something?” Rudely . We tried to check a few more times and an attitude followed each time. By 4 when check in was sipped to happen didn’t . We waited until 530 to be checked in an almost 630 for our second room. David needs a raise and virgina needs to learn manners
As much I loved the hotel and the location, I should have listened to previous reviews. We were set to check-in @130, they said no rooms, it wouldn't be ready til 4. We did not get a room until 545!!!! Awful inconvenience. The location luckily provided us something to go and do while we waited. Location is great! Breakfast was not good, but free food I guess was the bonus, if you like the basics - minus the fake eggs..ewww. We enjoyed the valet parking in a garage as well. The room didnt disappoint. The concierge was so nice and very helpful, I appreciated him the most. We will be back, but with the understanding that our room may not be ready for awhile and we eat elsewhere.
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel during Our Granddaughter wedding venue touring. We inquired a pleasant atmosphere by the helpful and caring attitudes ? of Joseph Thomas desk attendant and Joe Brown the car attendant. The 2 attendants were able to assist and answer any questions we may have had during Our stay. They will be forever remembered by making Our stay a delightful visit This Hotel will be selected for next year wedding of our Granddaughter Again, I say Thank you to Joseph Thomas and Joe Brown for your OUTSTANDING SERVICE .
Mannnnnnn this started out so shakey because we booked third party then our flight got their way late so we got marked as a no show even though i called the property and told them the situation. I’m guessing we spoke to someone at a call center but he gave us wrong info. MISS VIRGINIA helped us turn everything around. She was soooo nice. And she kinda looks like one of my aunties. Location of the property was perfect and the lobby with pool table was an added bonus. Definitely staying here again when we go back to NOLA
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The College of Charleston Women’s Tennis team spent our spring break here, and it could not have been a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and taken care of. A special thank you to Joseph at the front desk, he always had a smile on his face and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Whether we needed help with anything for the team or just had a quick question, he handled it with such positivity and professionalism. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our group. We truly felt at home during our stay and are so grateful for the hospitality. We would absolutely love to come back!
I'm glad I chose this hotel for my visit! My bedroom was clean with comfortable beds. The staff was so hospitable and warm, especially Michelle at the front desk and Housekeeping Manager Danite. There was a young African American man there too at the front desk that made my stay more enjoyable. He was adorable, kind & funny! The food during breakfast and the social hour was awesome! I loved the food & wine and was quite surprised to see gumbo (delish), salad, & sweet lemonade. My stay was well worth the price and the location was great. Plus, I appreciate that no one could access the building's front doors or rooms/floors without a keycard. Thanks for keeping me safe. I'll be back!
The staff here are amazing. I especially appreciated the service we received from Joseph and the concierge Nicoli (i hope i spelled her name correctly). They had a wonderful evening reception on Wednesdays and a delicious breakfast every morning. This hotel is within walking distance of Burbon st. Would definitely stay here again
Best value in the French Quarter. Great location. The area is high crime but the valet will park your vehicle in a gated car garage. The hotel room was nice, I especially like the ceiling fan. Our sink didn't have hot water but our shower did. The breakfast wasn't good, and had the worst eggs I've ever had, but it was free. Overall it's a nice and safe hotel in the french quarter
