The Westin New Orleans combines contemporary comfort with a prime downtown location, making it an ideal home base for Jazz Fest travelers. Guests can enjoy spacious rooms with river or city views, on-site dining, and modern amenities while staying close to the French Quarter.
The Westin New Orleans consistently receives positive feedback, primarily centered around its convenient location near the French Quarter and riverfront, as well as friendly service. However, recent reviews highlight recurring issues including inconsistent room cleanliness, outdated facilities, and difficulties accessing amenities like EV charging. Despite these concerns, many guests appreciate its accessibility and the helpfulness of staff members like Amanda W. and Roxie.
We stayed at The Westin for one night before our cruise, and it was such a convenient and enjoyable experience. The location is excellent—perfect for exploring the city. It’s on Canal Street, so you can easily walk to Bourbon Street and the surrounding areas without needing a taxi or rental car. The cruise port is also extremely close, about a 5–6 minute drive away, which made everything very easy and stress-free. Another big plus is that the hotel is connected to a mall, so if you don’t feel like going far, you can simply go downstairs and still have access to shops and food options. It made everything even more convenient. The hotel itself was very nice, and the service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and even had a beautiful river view, which made it even more special. We honestly wished we had stayed longer. It was the perfect place for a short stay, and we would definitely come back in the future.
Great stay at The Westin New Orleans! We originally booked a basic room with city view, but the staff upgraded us to a room with a river view, which was an amazing surprise. The room was spacious, clean, and had beautiful views of the Mississippi River. The location was perfect, an easy walk to the French Quarter and right by the riverfront, which made for some nice walks. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the lobby was beautiful as well. We would definitely stay here again if we're back in New Orleans!
The hotel is in a great location with a nice water front view and easy access to the French quarter. The hotel is next to a shopping mall with a large parking area which was competitively priced. The reason for the 4 stars is the hotel advertises EV charging being available for a fee. There is only 1 charging spot available on a first come first serve basis. The bigger issue was that the charger is broken and looks like it’s been broken for a while. There is a Nema 6-50 socket which, if you have that type of plug could work if you bring you own charger along, most EVs use Nema 14-50. If destination charging important for you, choose another hotel until the charger is fixed and ideally the number of stations is increased.
I had a great experience at The Westin New Orleans during my recent visit. As a traveler, I don’t really need much—just a clean room and kind people—and overall the hotel delivered on that. My room was clean enough and comfortable for my stay, though the bathroom could use a little refreshing. The shower/tub looked a bit worn and not completely white, which made it appear slightly dirty even though it seemed like it had been cleaned. It likely just needs to be refinished. I wear shower shoes anyway, so it wasn’t a huge concern for me, but it might be something the hotel could look into updating. The highlight of my stay happened during checkout when I met Amanda W. She was incredibly kind and asked about my stay. When I mentioned my concern about the shower, she listened carefully, took notes, and assured me she would make sure it was addressed so the next guest would have a better experience. Her kindness and professionalism really stood out. During our conversation I mentioned that I wanted to try the oysters at the hotel but was about to leave to catch my Uber. Amanda generously offered me a complimentary appetizer so I could try them before heading out. That gesture was completely unexpected and absolutely not necessary, but it meant a lot to me that she wanted to make sure I left on a good note. Amanda W. was truly the highlight of my stay, and I’m very grateful I got to meet her. On my next trip to New Orleans, I would happily stay here again just because of her hospitality. The location is also perfect. It’s easy to get around by trolley, walking (especially in nice weather), or Uber since everything is so close by. I’m already looking forward to my next trip, and I will definitely consider staying here again.
The worst experience I have ever had at a 4 star hotel. Upon arrival the bellman didn't help us with our bags yet stood there and watched us bring in 6 bags. There were no instructions on how to get to the lobby. A gentleman finally told us after we went around the side we had to get on the elevator and go to the 11th floor. After checking in, the room was subpar at best but the view was nice. The beds were uncomfortable both of us woke up with back pains. The tv shut off on its own after about 2 hours and I had to climb under the desk to flip the surge protector to get it back on each time. The bathroom door wouldn't completely shut. A huge brown stain appeared in the shower ceiling while showering. Also there was no vent fan in the bathroom. The housekeepers only made the beds, didnt refill the coffee or creamers. I sent laundry down on Saturday and was told I'd have it back on Monday it was not returned. I called and the manager Amanda said something happened with the launderer and it wasn't just my stuff that wasn't returned. As if that made it any better.I fly out the next morning so what can we do. She assured it would be in by 8am, it was not. I called at 9am and after being on hold for about 5 minutes they told me it would be sent up. My jacket had stains on it. The $60/day valet was either smoking in our car or before he got in our car as it smelled horribly of Marijuana. Also they broke my car key fob, no explanation. When asked about it he said it was like that when he got it. I will never use this hotel again
The location is perfect. Central and walking distance to all attractions, yet in a quiet area, away from traffic and the noise of the busy areas. It was also outside the parade routes, which kept all options of going around open. The service was excellent. Any requests I had for the room were responded to within 10 minutes. Rooms are clean and nicely done. The observatory lounge, with its panoramic views of the city, had great vibes and good food. Friendly and wonderful staff.
Nice rooms and friendly service. The location is great, but some aspects are tricky. Check-in and parking were very awkward until we found the front desk on the 11th floor. Then everything was smooth.
I stayed at the Westin for my first trip to New Orleans and it was a fantastic experience overall. The hotel is stunning, the staff was incredibly kind and professional, and the service was top-notch. I was also pleasantly surprised that it’s connected to a mall, super convenient and very cool! The only downside was the shower. The water pressure was low and the water was cold during my stay, which was disappointing. Hopefully that was just a temporary issue. Aside from that, everything was wonderful and I truly enjoyed my stay.
connected to the mall, Good walking distance from Bourbon street & the French quarters. 2nd day they left our door open & unlocked Didn’t clean/sanitize the rooms, when we got there I had to Lysol the toilet seats, because there was dried up urine on it, scum in the shower. all they did was make the beds, empty the trash can & replaced the tiles Only two thin layered tissue rolls a day, for 4 vaginas & 4 butts . Ended up just ordering wet wipes from Walmart AC gave a weird smell Had a bar Some kind of mandatory $15 a day room service fee It was decent and close to everything, I’ll give them that much, would probably book again
We had a great time staying at the Westin. The hotel is clean, and bright. The bar is a wonderful place to relax and have a cocktail. The rooms do not have microwaves which is a bummer (one star deduction), and the hotel only serves coffee in their very expensive restaurant. But other than these two slight issues, we loved our stay. We were invited to go into their speakeasy one night...who knew? It was awesome. The gentleman who runs that does an amazing job! So much fun!
