Guests report mixed experiences at The Troubadour, divided between praise for its prime location and rooftop bar versus serious service and operational failures including poor elevator access, vehicle parking costs, and inconsistent or hostile staff.
Strangely dated decor in the room that is from the '60s but mine was in good condition and the bathroom was modern. It has some quirks like you have to ask the front desk for ice, but it's not a big deal. Great location if you're OK with walking a few blocks in any direction. It's not in the middle of the partying scene so it's a great choice to avoid that crowd. Prices are reasonable. Not fabulous, but I'd stay here again.
The security guard was a dick and the desk clerk was not very friendly! Room was decent, AC didn’t work well. Parking is nonexistent $50 a night to valet your vehicle or you have to walk from another lot. Overall not really pleased with the experience. Would recommend staying at a different hotel.
We stayed at the Troubadour for 5 nights, and one of the best parts of our trip was the rooftop bar — thanks to Hunter, who I believe is the bar manager. He was friendly, funny, and great to talk to. He made our night so enjoyable that we may stay again ? I travel often for work and stay at a lot of Hiltons. Honestly, they should have Hunter running their bar programs — he’d take them to the next level. He’s got the personality, professionalism, and energy that makes a real difference. If you’re staying at the Troubadour, make sure to visit the rooftop. And if Hunter’s there, you’re in for a great time. ?
First of all the air conditioner in the room did not work but I did not complain because they were booked up. Second we went to the restaurant and it was just mediocre. We sat there and watched the bar tender take our order when she felt like she wanted to. Then she had to go outside to chase down the cook. Well he finally came in to fix our order. My burger and fries were cold and over cooked. My dates wings were hot but they were just mediocre also. And third you charge a lot not to have free parking for your guest. Not the worst I've experienced but close to it. I have advised all my friends and family NOT to stay at The Troubadour New Orleans. Clearly the staff does not give a damn about their jobs. They are just there to collect a pay check.
This hotel is so nice, and the staff is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone, and I would stay there again. The lady at the front desk was so kind, and she helped me when she did not have to do so. She went above and beyond to assist me, and I am so grateful for her kindness. I wish I had gotten her name, but I hope she reads this and knows I appreciate what she did for me. Thank you!
I was a little skeptical about this stay after reading some of the recent reviews. However, I was blown away by the hotel. The city view rooms are nice but we stayed in a suite which was clean, very spacious and so cute. There was a record player in the room and the bathroom was stocked with all the essentials. The elevators worked fine (I don’t know why people had bad reviews about that), and the hallways smelled really nice, at least on the 12th floor. We never checked out the first level lounge, but the rooftop bar is so cool with city views in all directions and cutely decorated. The happy hour there was nice. And the housekeeping was there every day during our trip and did a great job, I also accidentally left my very expensive ring in the room one day and it was left untouched. As far as location, it was walking distance of bourbon street and we walked to the French market area in about 15 minutes. It’s a couple blocks from the street car as well, but we walked everywhere. It wasn’t as loud as streets closer to bourbon street and we slept great. All in all, excellent stay considering the price was a lot cheaper than other hotels in the same area. 10/10 do recommend!
Beware Before Booking This Hotel for an Event! Our experience was awful. We planned our wedding for April 2025 and chose this hotel for its character, believing it would be the perfect host hotel & venue. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst decision. Key Issues: • Unprofessional Sales Director: Working with Kate, the sales director, was frustrating. Communication was poor, and she failed to inform us of major changes. • Misleading Photos & Poor Conditions: The hotel does NOT look like the photos. We found holes in the walls and broken bathroom doors. • Ownership Change Without Notice: The hotel was sold, and we were never informed. We only found out when our guests received emails saying their bookings were canceled. When we contacted Kate, her response was, “Oh, I was going to call you.” • Wedding Canceled Due to Their Negligence: Because of the hotel’s disorganization and lack of transparency, we had no choice but to cancel our wedding. • Refund Issues: We were promised refunds (for us and our guests) within 3–5 business days. It has now been over a month, and many guests have still not received their money. The hotel is refusing to return the funds. Please think twice before booking this hotel for any event. Our experience was a nightmare, and we don’t want anyone else to go through the same!
First, our stay was less than ideal. Valet took about an hour. The elevators (only two of the three appeared to be working) were slow, taking anywhere from 20-30 minutes. Our entire floor smelled like cat litter, the shower did not heat up, outlets in the room did not work, the TV remote was taped together and barely functioning, and then there is the charge for parking. I clarified at check-in that I paid for parking with my stay and was still charged - despite this conversation. It was challenging to get someone to discuss any of these concerns with as the hotel was packed and there appeared to be a staffing issue. There was next to no staff available and anyone we spoke to seemed to not care at all. When I asked about my valet charge upon departure - I was instructed to connect with Hilton directly. When I initially reached out to Hilton - they told me the front desk had to handle the issue. There seemed to be some confusion amongst employees about the hotel “not being a part of Hilton,” but I had booked only a day before arriving through Hilton. The first person I spoke to told me to expect a refund in 24 hours, the next 4 days and the next said they couldn’t see my stay records. I have spoken to Hilton and then reached out to the hotel directly and am still going in circles. I would recommend staying absolutely anywhere else.
This place got recommended by the grooms of the wedding we were attending. They actually had rooms reserved just for the guest. From the moment you walk in you can tell the staff does not care about their job. The valet guy did not even open doors or assisted with luggage’s instead just watched us struggle. Our room looked clean and organized but had several issues. The heat did not work, the bathroom light was out and the small mirror was broken. We called the front desk at least 10x before someone answered to let them know the concerns and they said engineering would come. Engineering never showed up and we just requested to get moved. The new room had a broken fridge that never got cold, and the outlet plugs next to the bed did not work. This hotel should not be part of the Hilton. The staff are unreachable, not sure if they are understaff but we had to call the front desk several times to get any assistance, and when we went to the front desk nobody was there and we had to wait. Overall my experience was a 0/10 and I do not recommend this place. Additionally, there’s so much construction nearby which is loud in the morning due to the work being done.
Disgusting.? Horrible experience for us. Service was bad in every department possible. Hallways, elevator, bathrooms were filthy. The crowd is loud drunk junkies. All of this for $300+ a night! ??? Check in was late night so some woman checked us in that possibly could not hold a job in hospitality anywhere else on earth. Later she gave me more of her nasty attitude over not wanting to send some water to our room. The restaurant attendant was indifferent. Restaurant/bar items and hours are hard to use so forget about using your food and beverage credit. They make sure phones in your room don’t work so you wouldn’t bother them for anything or have to spend 10+ minutes waiting on the elevator to go to receptionist who would give you some nasty attitude before she helps you. Rooms look nice, but housekeeping is not the cleanest. There was hair, trash, and someone’s underwear in our room upon check in. Daily cleaning was just folding the mattress but housekeepers happily took our generous tip not even leaving water bottles for us. Bed was comfortable. Location also sucks. Lots of construction around the hotel, and you will have to walk through some ghetto neighborhoods to get to the French quarters. For the first time in a long time did I try to get out of my hotel, but the corporate refused to help me with a partial refund so we decided to stay the entire length of our booking against our wish. Expecting that generic response from corporate?. Hopeless…
