The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans offers a blend of luxurious, renovated accommodations and a prime location near the French Quarter, often praised for an elegant atmosphere and exceptional Club Level service. However, recent reviews reveal severe inconsistencies in standard of care, with several guests reporting inadequate maintenance (such as flickering lights, unsecured fixtures, and room heating issues) and a disparity in frontline treatment that falls short of luxury standards.
I had the pleasure of attending a three-day bridal conference here this week and the event staff truly made the experience exceptional. From start to finish, their level of service, attention to detail, and genuine care for every guest did not go unnoticed. Coordinating an event of this size over multiple days is no small task, yet everything felt seamless and thoughtfully managed. The team was consistently professional, welcoming and incredibly attentive which created such a positive atmosphere for everyone attending. Thank you to the entire staff for the hard work, hospitality and care you put into making the event such a success. It was truly appreciated!!
We’ve been staying at the Ritz whenever we have the opportunity to visit New Orleans, and it has become our favorite place to stay in the city. Of all the Ritz properties I have experienced, this one stands out as my favorite. Every visit leaves a lasting impression and reminds us why we keep coming back. For our most recent stay we booked the club level, and it was absolutely worth it. The club lounge experience was exceptional, with incredible food presentations throughout the day, from breakfast to evening offerings. Everything was beautifully prepared and consistently delicious, and the lounge itself provides a relaxed, elegant space to unwind. The service there was just as impressive as the rest of the hotel, with staff who were attentive, friendly, and clearly dedicated to making every guest feel welcome. One of the things that really stood out during this stay was how amazing the recent renovations are. The property feels refreshed and beautifully updated while still maintaining the classic elegance and charm that makes it feel like a true Ritz-Carlton experience. The rooms and common areas feel luxurious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The location is another huge advantage. It is perfectly situated with easy access to the French Quarter and many of New Orleans’ most iconic attractions, restaurants, and entertainment. It is close enough to walk almost anywhere you want to go while still feeling like a quiet, refined retreat when you return to the hotel. What truly sets this property apart, though, is the staff. The team here is impeccable. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, everyone you encounter is warm, professional, and genuinely eager to ensure your stay is perfect. That level of hospitality is what turns a great hotel into a truly memorable experience. This property continues to set the standard for us whenever we visit New Orleans. It is elegant, welcoming, beautifully maintained, and consistently delivers an outstanding stay. Highly recommended. We cannot wait for our next visit.
As a Marriott platinum member I’ve visited multiple Ritz Carlton properties. This by far is a sanctuary for me. I ended up backing up the truck at the gift shop and spent hundreds of dollars there. The hotel smells so nice. It has such a great vibe and is such a perfect location. Definitely by far one of my favorite Ritz Carlton‘s.
I want to start by saying I had extremely high hopes for this stay. I booked a King Suite — a $1,200 reservation — specifically to celebrate my birthday. I traveled to New Orleans expecting the world-class luxury and attentive service that the Ritz-Carlton name is supposed to guarantee. What I received was the complete opposite. From the moment I checked in, things went downhill. No one took the time to walk me through the property or explain how to get to my room. I found myself lost — multiple times — wandering the hotel trying to find where I was supposed to be. Meanwhile, I watched another couple get personally escorted to their room with full attention and care. The contrast was jarring and honestly humiliating. Why did they receive that level of service while I was left to figure things out on my own? For $1,200, I expected to feel like a valued guest. Instead, I felt invisible. To make matters worse, when I brought up my experience at checkout — hoping for some acknowledgment, an apology, or at the very least, a genuine conversation — the response I received was a dismissive “Oh wow.” That’s it. No apology. No attempt to make things right. Just two words and a blank stare. This was my birthday. I saved and planned for this trip. I traveled specifically to create a special memory, and the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans made me feel like a nobody. That is simply unacceptable for a brand that markets itself on luxury and exceptional service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special occasion stay. If this is the standard of care the Ritz-Carlton now offers, the name no longer means what it once did.
Absolute perfection in every way. Seriously. I mean I know it’s the Ritz, but this hotel will blow you away. The authentic New Orleans style of the hotel is what drew me in but it’s the staff that had me immediately booking my next (and longer) trip as soon as I got home. We stayed here for Mardi Gras because it’s iconic New Orleans and because I knew it would be safe. And that was an absolute understatement. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you are going to NO for Mardi Gras. It is worth every penny. The staff is phenomenal with zero ounce of pretension. Absolute hospitality at every turn. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the Ritz Carlton bed is one I will be ordering for myself - thank you Marriott for making that an option. So. Comfortable. Diptyque toiletries and Frette linens so you can absolutely luxuriate in your room. The Davenport Lounge (3rd floor) is the perfect place to unwind after a day of being out and about in the French Quarter. Seriously this hotel is just perfect.
I have had the opportunity to stay at this property on multiple occasions. The property itself is beautiful. It’s also walking distance to all the local downtown attractions. The on site food was great. The coctail bar with jazz was awesome as you would expect at the Ritz Carlton.
This serve a review is my opinion. I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans before and I returned and they have not let me down.. When we arrive, we came in and ate lunch and it was very good that night being it was Christmas Eve Christmas evening. We got a table at the main dining room and had a very good dinner.. My wife and I both had salmon and it was quite large about 7 ounces and cooked perfectly along with two very nice size portions to go with it. Our waiter was very attentive and I would give the dining experience a five star
Great location, blocks away from Bourbon Street. Service was great. The hotel itself at first appears to be really nice, but the closer you look the more little things you find wrong with it. Our bath tub fixtures were not secured properly, there was miss colored paint in areas, and some boards in the common area were coming up. This was probably a really nice place at one time, but the attention to detail of the maintenance is lacking. The electricity was also very unstable. The lights flickered constantly. Unsure if it was a hotel thing or New Orleans thing, but it definitely seems like the electrical in the hotel needs some attention. Overall, I expected more from one of the most luxurious hotels in New Orleans.
Can't beat the location - convenient to the Quarter and CBD, valet parking at the hotel, easy in and out. There are many restaurants a short walk or good dining options at the hotel. Every single staff member here is a professional. They are kind, empowered to make your stay perfect and correct any issues you have. The rooms a clean and well appointed. If you can visit here for the holidays you should. The decorations are over the top and well worth seeing.
The attention to details in this hotel and dining is stunning. The employees are exceptional at customer service and very welcoming. The harp being played in the dining area was very relaxing. Christmas decorations set it off and just made you want to sink into the cozy couches with a cup coffee. Oh and that courtyard, well you can see for yourself. Highly recommend ?
