The Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Convention Center offers a convenient location near the convention center and Riverwalk, making it a popular choice for travelers attending events. While many guests appreciate the friendly staff, cleanliness, and breakfast options, recurring concerns include hallway noise, shower drainage issues, inconsistent service at the front desk, and parking complications.
On my way here I messaged about a situation in which I never got a response until way later. Afterwards, I called and the representative Ronnie gave me a clear answer. I finally got there an realized Ronnie was handling everything on her own , the desk, phone calls and in person customers. She was on it ! It took less than two minutes to check me in and I was good to go. That's the type of service and representatives I feel all Hiltons should have. Ill definitely be coming back to this hotel !
Basic room. The hallway smelled like wet dog. Our room was located right next to an elevator that did not work & a storage room where the housekeepers woke us up a little before 9am while gathered in this area. They were talking so loud for so long, I had to go out & ask them to please keep it down. We received a letter that our water was not to be used to brush our teeth and was amazed that there was no complimentary water left in our room for the inconvenience. The continental breakfast was nice, but I was surprised that there was no fruit served. Lastly, our room overlooked a rooftop. Update: thanks for reaching out. I would also like to add that the showers drain needs to be cleaned out. The water was backing up when I showered and there was no bodywash. It needs to be refilled. Also, we were not left any soap for the sink. Good thing we brought our own soaps. Room #453
Despite e-check 24 hours prior and indicating we will reach late, a room was not held for us. We paid for a suite and were given a standard room that smelled of weed. We were told we could only get a suite after 2 nights. On 14th night we were told the manager would contact us at 8 am on 15th. He didn’t do so until we went to the reception at 8:45 am and asked for him. He was very polite and took down my number. He called back in an hour with options. This was the only positive interaction with staff. We opted to wait until 16th for a suite because it looked like there was no certainty we would get a refund to move out of the hotel despite the fact that we had paid for a suite and had been downgraded. We again went on 16th morning to check when room would be ready so we could plan our day. The receptionist was completely apathetic, no smile, no apologies for the inconvenience. Just said she couldn’t give us a time. So I left my number again for a second time with her and asked for a call when room was ready. No one called and when we tried calling the hotel several time around 4 pm no one picked up. When we came back around 5 pm, they told us room was ready but their only excuse for not contacting us was they lost the number and they had a crazy day. For the inconvenience that the hotel put us through, they behaved as if it was completely ok that the customer has to keep following up. On top of that the manager said we should call and find out if we got points. To be clear these points were not a favor or goodwill gesture from Hilton. These are in compensation for my overpayment for two nights. I paid for a suite and stayed in a standard room. We realize it was a busy time but that’s what the hotel and staff should be trained to manage. Very bad experience.
There was nothing not to like about this hotel. I spent a good amount of time searching for hotels which had reasonably priced suite that had two rooms. I reserved a two-queen (bedroom) with sofabed (living room / kitchen) separated by French doors. The interior was well decorated and the windows in the bedroom were actually two stories high! We cooked some instant noodles on the stove using their pot and bowls. Given the vicinity to the convention center, I believe the breakfast area was larger than usual. Your usual Hampton Inn fare if not more - waffles, bread, muffins, sausage patties, egg w cheese, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, juice. Late checkout was accommodated by front desk though the cleaning staff seemed a bit surprised when I let them know about it. It was relatively easy to find free street parking a couple blocks west. The area felt safe enough. Like other reviews mentioned, front desk is not especially responsive to phone calls from the room.
If I could rate zero stars, I would do so. Our trip was a disaster from the start. We paid for the cruise package room. This meant we would leave our car at the hotel and the Hampton would shuttle us to the port and then pick us up after the cruise. We had to pay for valet parking the whole week. When we got to the hotel, we had to ride around the block 4 times before they would take the car. That took around an hour. Room was ok. Lots of dust on end tables. They advertise a bar on site. Very limited supply and out of most popular items. The worse part was shuttle to and from port. We signed up to leave and 10:30 going to port. Was told to be outside at 10:15. It was freezing cold and windy. We finally got on the bus around 11. Coming back from the port was worse. I called them as soon as we got off the ship and they said the shuttle was on the way. They lied over and over. After 4 phone calls, we decided to walk back to the hotel with luggage and freezing cold winds. We get to the hotel and they can't find the car. Over an hour later, they found the car. Totally unacceptable! They are not equipped to handle the valet parking.
Beautiful rooms in a PERFECT proximity to all the spots you need to see! Valet parking means no driving around trying to find a spot. Across the street from the convention center and short walk to the Riverwalk, CBD. And the French Quarter. Great rooms, great rates, friendly staff.
Can't get closer to the convention center. The room was clean and comfortable. However most days the shower was freezing cold. Almost unusable. Which is weird because faucet on the sink was fine. I reported it to front desk who said they would have maintenance look at it, but it never got better. Bathtub drained ridiculously slow so I showered in a couple of inches of water. Always a no-no when avoiding athletes foot. Housekeeping only came when I asked front desk to make sure they stopped by. Shower gel was empty on day one and never refilled. We were on vacation, so none of this was overly challenging, but if I was on business it would have been a problem. Breakfast was run well. Lots of options including proteins, and the coffee never ran out. Would have been a poor choice if not for the location. Mediocre. Update: After reading this review management called and apologized. They backed it up with action. I won't change or remove my original review, but they deserve credit for try to make it right.
This hotel was fine, rooms were ok decent size, had everything we needed. Service was Meh... the staff at reception basically going for minimum requirements, like didn't do bad but weren't good. Breakfast was wild the first 2 days SOOOO many people it was nuts but our last day it was pleasant, food was ok the kids loved the waffles but that was the longest line. Location is good for convention centre, bit of walk to get to French quarter etc, it was a nice walk along the waterfront but had to Uber back as didn't want to walk both ways. Overall a decent hotel the Valet parking seemed pricey and took awhile but we never used it. Laundry was very good and the gym was decent to use while traveling.
Great pre cruise hotel. I did take a star away cause there is current construction that I was not aware of when I booked. The front desk is a large table covered with a black cloth. Now with that said it was a super nice stay and my only real complaint is out door kept sticking and we had to make sure it shut everytime we left and was a struggle to open at times. The room itself was nice, clean, and roomy. We had a king bed on the 8th facing the interstate, so view wasn't the best, but that was fine foe our one night stay. Bathroom is clean and roomy also. Plenty of storage and power outlets. Location is great. We parked at Fulton Street parking garage and the hotel is about a block walk away. Cute little bar only 2 blocks away. I will likely stay here again for my next cruise. We love Hampton Inns.
Front desk area under renovation, so there was literally just a table. Staff at the table seemed unenthusiastic about their jobs. Other hotel staff were nicer. The hotel building and our room were just OK. The climate control system had a odor to it, clearly distinguishable from the usual hotel hallway smell. The bathtub had a dark stain near the drain, and the shower curtain rod was damaged and hung loose. Also, the bathroom sink was slow to drain. Confusingly, the sink faucet would only flow cold water in a trickle, but as you turned it hotter, the flow increased. If you willing to scald your hand, you had ample flow, until the sink filled up. The included breakfast changed every day, on a three-day rotation. Fresh, hot and plenty of it, though plastic knives seemed to be in short supply. Street parking is scarce, and on-site parking is $45/day, so we saved a bunch by using SpotHero to pay $20/day and the nearby Fulton Street Garage. Various public mass transit is a few blocks away if you want to keep your parked. We got the three-day RTA Jazzy for just $8. We didn't visit the in-house bar, but I could see there wasn't a draft beer system.
