We’ve been coming to New Orleans a couple times a year since 2007! Found Hotel Royal about 6 years ago. One of the best! Housekeeping is above par and takes great care of us! Front desk staff especially Macey is outstanding! She is amazing. She makes every visit we’ve had so special and truly goes above and beyond!

My sister and I loved our experience at this hotel. First the location is excellent. It’s close enough to everything without being in the center of it which meant we got great sleep but we never felt like we were too far from anything. There’s a bunch of tours that walk along this street so that was a plus too. Parking was a little hard to find on our own but Perry at the front desk was AMAZING. No seriously, he made our stay! The hotel was great but Perry made it even better. There is no elevator here but that was something we saw on the website before and were prepared for. Despite that, it was not hard for us to go up and down the stairs with all our things because the staircase is wide. The hotel is very aesthetic too! The room we got was a single queen and it felt pretty big! The only downside of the room was no fridge. Especially after a long day of walking, not being able to cool our drinks or keep our food cool was unfortunate. All in all we will definitely come back to this hotel and look forward to it!

My fiance and I recently stayed here and while I enjoyed SOME aspects of this hotel, some things just didn't hit for me. The parking situation was atrocious. There was no clear communication from the front desk attendant at all for us. He even had an attitude as if we were bothering him. We traveled 11 hours to your city....doesn't hurt to be kinder. He told us we couldn't check in until 4 because of late checkouts, so in a city we're unfamiliar with we had to kind of hope our stuff was okay in the car until we could get into our room. And find something to do until check in time. Not even a call or text to say our room was ready. However, Perry (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was amazing! So funny and helpful and just a welcoming friendly face at the hotel. So appreciated him. Tv could've been on the wall in front of the bed instead of on a wall I have to creak my neck to view it on. I found a tiny spot of blood on the fitted sheets which made me very worried that they hadn't been changed as often as one would think. I LOVE the location of the hotel, it's a beautiful hotel truly. It's within walking distance of everything my fiance and I wanted to do in the French Quarter and Jackson Square. I love your city and had a lot of fun regardless!

This hotel is a wonderful choice if you want a cozy, authentic experience right near the heart of the action. The building itself is a charming old historic structure that gives you a real feel for the area, and the location is incredibly accessible—just a short walk away from Bourbon Street and very close to the arts section of the French Quarter. However, there are a few important trade-offs to keep in mind. The rooms are quite tiny, and the property does not have an elevator, so if you get a room on the third floor, you will have to carry all of your luggage up the stairs yourself. It's also worth noting that because of the lively location, the area has the potential to get a little noisy at times, though luckily we didn't experience much noise at all during our stay. Overall, if you don't mind the tight spaces and the stair climb, the fantastic location and cozy historic vibe make it a great base for exploring the city.

Difficult to even find the staff at times. We left our key in our room and had to call a posted number and wait for someone to show up from off site. Checkout was the same, we were trying to leave while there was a break in the tropical storm and someone finally came in from outside that worked there. Rooms were very clean and the charm of the old building was amazing.

Despite very limited parking, this is a great little hotel! Nice clean rooms. Great amenities. And a friendly staff! All right near the French Quarter! Highly recommended!

The staff was very helpful and the location was perfectly in-between to all the places we wanted to explore. The rooms were way smaller then I expected but I may have over looked the photos/ dimensions(if there was any). Our hot water did not work and we were staying there for 4 nights so that was a biggie. Staff immediately responded to the issue but still no hot water. Read some reviews and found out that if you run the sink hot water at the same time, the shower would work, and sure enough it worked perfectly lol I don't recall reading the balconies being shared balconies with the room next door and we had got our 12&18 year old girls that room since the trip was for them(The Originals fan) so we were definitely over cautious. The kids loved the trip and loved the hotel vibes!

My son was staying at hotel Royal this April (2026), the staff was amazing! He suffered an injury outside the hotel property and the staff prompty took amazing care of him and his partner.Meycy is a GEM of New Orleans, she was amazingly polite, helpfull, friendly… the others as well!!!! They made me and my family feel so at easy in such a rough moment! ? Thank You! We became loyal costumers forever of Hotel Royal! Btw, the deluxe bedroom at the courtyard is VERY comfortable, the Balcony bedroom on the 3rd floor an Amazing view of Royal street!

We have stayed at this location a few times now and it’s perfect for our needs. Most of our stays have been 5 star and some have been 4 star. It definitely matters which room you stay in but every room we have stayed in has been quiet, nice bedding, and comfortable. Our fav is room 25. It’s on the ground floor, and has a bathtub shower. Recently we stayed in room 5. Was a lovely small room, amazing AC, and the bed was wonderful just like the others. However, it’s up and down 5 sets of stairs and the standing shower has small tiles which hurt our feet. Recommend shower shoes if you stay in this room. There’s also no beverage options at the hotel so be sure to bring your own waters or sodas. There’s no microwave or refrigerator but they do have an ice machine on the ground floor. Location is PERFECT for walking around and exploring the French Quarter. If you want out of the FQ it’s going to be about $20 uber ride there and back tho. We will be returning.

Beautiful hotel with great staff. Only issues- water pressure was low and hot water was scarce. Also, there’s no elevator so if they don’t put you on the ground floor, climbing all of those steps with luggage is tough.
