This centrally located hotel offers spacious, comfortable rooms and excellent service, but it is significantly marred by outdated amenities, inconsistent housekeeping, and substantial hidden fees that many guests find unreasonable for the price.
The 20% gratuity for eating in the restaurants is unreal, as they also have a line below it to leave gratuity. If you don’t read the receipt line by line, you could be paying 40% for gratuity. A couple other restaurants there do the same. There needs to be a mini fridge to keep your water is cold as it was quite warm and humid while we were there. The staff was great, the hotel was clean and upkeep. The concierge was amazing as well.
We stayed at the Intercontinental New Orleans during Mardi Gras and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The hotel is located on St. Charles Street which is on the major parade routes. All we had to do was step outside to have a great view of the parades. The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful throughout our stay and both the onsite restaurant and bar were solid. Our room was extremely large and comfortable and well equipped but was due for updating, not at the level we expect of an Intercontinental property..
I was very happy with my recent stay and would stay again. The rooms are clean and updated (though too many minibar/snack goodies for my preference, and the walls are maybe a *bit* thin). The location is about perfect, just a couple blocks away from the French Quarter, right off St. Charles Ave so taking the streetcar is easy, and just a short walk down Poydras to the riverfront. Staff is very friendly especially the front desk/porter. Conference facilities were pleasant as well as the food provided for the event for the most part.
I wanted to thank the InterContinential Hotel for the best service! My mom and I were staying in New Orleans for our first time together, and we did have to move rooms on the first night but they treated us with the utmost respect and kindness, and Donate (apologies if I spell your name wrong) was the BEST front desk service host I have ever had and I have travelled a lot. All of the women were wonderful as well, and always so kind. I loved Trenasse the hotel restaurant, it had the BEST service, and I went there 3 times because of the service. Please keep it up I will be back, and due to the kind ness we had the best overall experience from check in to check out. 10/10. We will be back! Thank you again!!! Mark was also a great manager who offered us a double queen on day 1. Such a great place to stay!!!
I’ve had the pleasure of staying here a couple of times. Each time the overall experience has been consistently wonderful. The rooms have a certain style and charm that makes every stay feel like a special occasion. The restaurant features a delicious and varied menu. Guest service is excellent as well.
The location of the InterContinental New Orleans is excellent—very convenient to the French Quarter and getting around the city. Unfortunately, the hotel itself did not feel like a true 4-star property. Our room was extremely dark and quite dated, with virtually no natural light, which made it feel tired rather than welcoming. The rooms also lacked adequate soundproofing, and we could clearly hear barking dogs and crying children, which affected our ability to rest. Housekeeping was inconsistent and did not replenish basic items like toilet paper, Kleenex, or soap once we ran out, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the front desk staff were genuinely kind and helpful, which we appreciated. We spent most of our time in the French Quarter and, in hindsight, should have gone with our instincts and chosen a more romantic, boutique-style hotel. Overall, the location carries this stay more than the accommodations or amenities, which did not meet 4-star expectations.
Upon Arrival, I was check in by a girl name Breonna. The experience was horrible. She was so rude, didn't explain any of the hotels amenities, just slammed our room keys and a piece of paper on the table and walked off. My partner had to ask another front desk host for directions to the elevator because Breonna didn’t even tell us where to go. Once in the room, we were so upset by the experience we decided to book another room at a Hyatt property. Immediately, we went downstairs and spoke with a male manager, explained our issues with check in and how it ruined our experience of wanting to stay at the hotel and requested a refund. He refused and told us he would upgrade the room but we didn't want an upgrade we wanted a refund. As a Gold member, I expected better treatment. I would never want to stay at a hotel I don't feel valued. We asked for the reservation to be cancelled, he never did and we were charged for one night. For the 10 mins we were there, 0/10 experience! Will not be recommending this hotel
I organized an academic conference at the Intercontinental last month. We picked the Intercontinental since room and catering fees were competitive with other large hotels in the area. Andrew and Greg from the event staff did a great job, and were super-responsive to all our requests. The rooms were nicely furnished, and the hotel is in an excellent location (just a few blocks walk from the French Quarter). I would definitely recommend checking out this hotel for anyone traveling to the area, whether the travel is for business or personal reasons.
Not a bad hotel at all, staff was very nice during check in. During check out the lady at the front desk had slight attitude. Water pressure was low, they did come to fix it. The hotel needs to be upgraded seriously. Street noise is a bit much… tolerable tho. Bathrooms are dater the tub saw better days.
Nice hotel, good location. Beds were super comfortable and had two different pillow styles which was a nice touch, like a softer flatter pillow personally. Gym wasn't great, but pool was nice. Did have one night with middle aged drunk women yelling in the hall after a night of drinking and refusing to go to their rooms, but it is New Orleans after all.
