Hotel Provincial offers a charming and historic stay in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, the convenient location, and the beautifully maintained property. While some rooms can be noisy due to street traffic, the overall experience is considered exceptional.
We stayed in the rear building at the back which had a fascinating history (apparently there were ghosts in the elevator!). Lovely huge bed and room, really attentive staff, super helpful and hospitable. It was my wife’s birthday and they helped get flowers in the room to surprise her which was so lovely. Great bartenders down at the ice bar and a fantastic location just the perfect distance from everywhere you would want to see in NOLA! Fully recommend this place for staying in the Big Easy!
Perfect location in the French Quarters. Walk just 2 minutes to the heart if it all! The double room was spacious and has a small refrigerator in the tv console. The room and the property are very clean. The staff is amazing! Everyone is so helpful and accommodating. Shout out to Sebastian, who was wonderful and helpful! My friends and I agree, we will return here from now on when visiting NOLA!
Our stay at The Provincial was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was flawless, and David in particular was a true gentleman and big help. Location is superb, what I would say is 1-2 blocks off the beaten path. I wish every hotel was as great as The Provincial
My friends were staying the night but I wanted to nap before flying out. I didn’t make the reservation but they needed my ID and card on file in order to have me check in before them. Standard protocol, no big deal. I didn’t have a physical credit card so I gave my debit, which I felt weird about since it would be so direct with my checking account. I asked them to confirm there would be no charge. They confirmed and said it was only on hold. This only became a problem when I get a call from my bank a couple hours later asking if I authorized a $6100 charge from this hotel. They said it was processing so it hadn’t gone through, but there was no indication of a reversal, which is why they were checking in. I immediately called the hotel and asked what was going on. The girl who I spoke to said she’d look into it. Once she did, she very nonchalantly explained that whoever checked me in accidentally charged $6100 instead of $61. But he reversed it immediately so it should be fine. I respond how it’s interesting that he felt no need to share that information with me after it happened…to which she replied: yeah well I wasn’t the one who did this so I don’t know. No apologies, nothing. I said, well you should probably let the man who did do it know that it was an inappropriate way to handle the situation. She responds “alrighty”. …..ok. Extremely odd customer service experience. And side note—the reversal only showed up after I called them. So it’s even more odd to then lie to me saying he reversed it immediately. It’s pretty clear that the charge would’ve gone through had I not called them and told them what happened. The hotel itself was nice but I cannot recommend based off of this experience.
This hotel has the BEST location ever. In between the French market and Bourbon St, it provides a short walk to many options of food, shopping and night life without being right in the thick of it. The hotel is well maintained and the staff are superb. (Thank you Jerome and Evan who parked my car was so helpful!) The beds are heavenly, and the water nice and hot. For New Orleans, my room was fairly quiet - even during festival.
A perfectly placed hotel in the French Quarter, within walking distance of important attractions. Nice and quiet with black out shutters/doors that actually work. Superb linens (3 sheets!), comfortable beds, and luxurious pillows. My only caveat was the valet parking; we had to unload our car at the entrance, and then carry our luggage to our room while the valet drove our car and parked right in front of our room. How can that possibly make any sense? Extra fee for parking but the car was safe and sound, so the price was well worth it. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Great stay at Hotel Provincial. It’s easy to see why it’s considered one of the best high-value 3-star options in New Orleans. Parking was safe and convenient, and the valet service was excellent—friendly, helpful, and professional. The courtyards were beautiful and especially charming with the Christmas decorations. Rooms were on the smaller side and décor was fairly simple, but the bedding was extremely comfortable. The only downside was a limited balcony view due to nearby construction on Decatur Street, which wasn’t mentioned when I booked by phone. Overall, a wonderful stay and a great choice for anyone wanting to be in the heart of the French Quarter.
The staff is amazing!! Our room was perfect! Bed and pillows were so comfortable! We had a king walkout. Will definitely stay here any time we come down.
The Hotel Provincial is one of those iconic little places that has somehow avoided the homogenization of the hotel industry. It displays that time worn grace and beauty that is so unique to the French Quarter. The service staff is exceptional...many of them working here for 30 years. This is a stop on nearly every carriage and walking tour of the French Quarter due to the history of it's buildings and courtyards
The staff was exceptional. From the guy that parked our car, the front desk to the bar tender, this hotel hits a home run with service. Not cheap, but I guess nothing is since the run away covid inflation. The location is wonderful for exploring the Quarter, and catching the trollies a short walk away.
