The Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans French Quarter/CBD offers a convenient location near the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, but consistently receives mixed reviews regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and service. Recent feedback highlights issues with room conditions, including stains, rust, and malfunctioning amenities, alongside some positive experiences with friendly staff. While the location and some services are appreciated, significant improvements are needed to address recurring concerns.
This was my first visit to New Orleans. As a diamond member, I’ve stayed at various Hilton hotels. I understand that quality comes at a price. My stay was approximately $150 per night during convention time, which is quite reasonable for the location. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. However, the room showed signs of aging and could use updates and maintenance. The bathtub was rusting, the shower handle was broken, and the drain was plugged. Additionally, the AC was quite noisy.
Quite possibly the worst customer service I’ve had staying at a hotel and I’ve stayed at ALOT! First off I received a email saying there was a problem with my payment card and I need to contact the hotel straightaway to avoid losing my room. This email had gone through to my spam, but I check it daily, luckily. Then when I called, they put me on hold for 7 mins whilst I’m about to board my flight to New Orleans, then she says oh, don’t worry about the email, we just wanted to double check you were coming. No mention of a problem with the already paid for room. As I’m a good member we get $10 daily perk that can be used toward “anything”, tried to use it towards my wife’s breakfast, to which the lady in the breakfast room stated we could as I had a paid for breakfast voucher for my breakfast. The lady in the breakfast room was outright rude. The cook just placed our breakfast on the counter, no attempt to alert us or bring it to our table. They messed up my bill at checkout. The lady behind the bar charged me $43 for a double vodka straight!!! Which seemed a made up price as she said that seems high, so knocked $10 off it. Filled out the end of stay survey expressing my disappointment, had an automated reply saying sorry we didn’t meet your expectations etc. $1k a night, as it was jazz fest. All in all very disappointing, no follow up from the manager after the automated response. As it it was his email that caused the panic at the beginning, just shows that the customer service from the top down is poor. Certainly would never stay there again. Domonique Holloway is the manager who needs to answer for his crimes! Ha.
The service was great (thanks, Dominique!) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel location is ideal, too. It was an easy walk to Bourbon Street or the Street Cars/Trolleys. I'd definitely come back here again. The room was a good value for the price. The hotel itself is older (the rooms are up-to-date), but it is clean and the pool area is decent, too.
I can say I did enjoy my stay at this location and especially the breakfast that was included with my package deal. The front desk and cooks were very friendly and helpful. I can say that everything is really walking distance and at night it is a whole nother vibe. The only thing is parking is $46 valet but you can find cheaper parking down the street.
The best part about this place is its location. Within walking distance of pretty much everything in downtown or the French quarter. Rooms were okay, clean but didn't like the "community soap". Instead of individual soaps and shampoos they go with 3 bottles attached to the shower walls. That everyone who rents that room is free to open and use. I brought my own. I dont put that much trust on humanity I guess.
Very disappointed. For this to be the Hilton…and to be an honors member. The cleanliness of the room was horrible. Room smelled like weed. The facecloth literally started to tear apart when I put it under water! I only stayed for a day and was highly upset. Won’t be staying at this location again.
Today is my last day at this hotel. I must tell you - - what a DELIGHT this hotel is. Ive been staying at one of these very famous historic $650/night hotels and finally couldnt take the inadequacies of the hotel. I know the Hampton Garden Inn chain of hotels from back home (New York City/New Jersey) and i've always have had good experiences there. When I called to "get rescued" from this fancy awful hotel, I spoke with BRANDIE IVICEVICH who was extremely accomodating for my wife and I (as well as to my 2 friends who were at a different, but similar high priced hotel). Checking in was SMOOTH. She then showed us the laundry room, the fitness center (which is surprisingly pretty adequate in such a small hotel chain). They have little snacks and sodas for purchase. Room has many electrical outlets (for charging cellphones, laptops, earbuds, etc). Refrigerator. a nice working desk. Microwave. Cable TV (i dont know if it's actual cable, but i was ableto watch the olympics, CNN, FOX, and, NETFLIX!). Bathroom and showers all new. Lighting is great in the bathroom. Closet space. Clean as a whistle. andddd, within walking distance to the french quarter (something like a 7 minute walk). oh - - breakfast too (ok, not the fanciest breakfast, just your basic bacon, eggs, cereal, etc - - but fine). "HOP ON/HOP OFF" tourist sightseeing bus on the next corner....kinda cool/ you could certainly go to one of those jazzed up, b.s. hotels and bellyache and complain; or come here, where you have anything and everything that you really need....and save your money for these ridiculously expensive restaurants that will cost you a arm and a leg!
Good location but our AC didn’t work in our room the entire stay. They were at full capacity up until the night prior to check out so we had no options other than to use two box fans that were very noisy. No reimbursements were given, I would spend the extra $20 and go somewhere nicer
Racquel is the best I checked in today and her personality is definitely one for the books. She made me feel right at home away from home, gave me a detailed layout of the hotel and where I could find everything. Her bubbly personality is one you need in your place of business and she will keep me coming to stay with Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter. She kept telling me that my stay here was going to be the best and it’s already starting off great meeting a great person like Racquel. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Bring your kids family and friends to Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter. Racquel will take care of you.
Absolutely unacceptable and deeply disturbing experience. Items were stolen from my room by the housekeeper assigned to it, Roxana. When I reported this to management, no action was taken whatsoever. There was no investigation, no accountability, and no concern shown for the safety or property of guests. What made this situation even worse was the behavior of the housekeeping manager, who openly stated that even if staff steal from guests, the hotel is “not liable.” When I requested compensation or resolution for my missing items, the manager laughed in my face. That level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is appalling. I felt completely violated, disrespected, and dismissed. This hotel clearly does not value its guests, nor does it take theft by its employees seriously. Staying here is a risk, and I strongly urge others to reconsider booking if they care about their belongings or being treated with basic human decency. I will never return.
