The JW Marriott New Orleans offers an excellent location in the heart of the city, praised for its modern rooms and famous canal street entrance. However, recent reviews highlight significant mixed quality regarding service; while many staff members are exceptionally warm and helpful, others are described as indifferent or transactional.
This is an amazing hotel. We have stayed here twice during Mardi Gras, and the treatment by staff could not be better; they are by far the hardest working staff I have ever seen at any hotel ever. From the maids, the concierge, the food and bar service, their level of attention and perfection should be studied and taught. I don't believe they own phones because I never saw the staff holding one in my whole weeks stay. They are all quick with a smile, ask about your day, ask if you need anything. One morning, we popped back into our room after breakfast before heading back out for the day, and you could tell the maid had been there but hadn't finished. She came back just as we were leaving, and apologized profusely and sweetly for needing to go get something we were out of, even though we must have laughingly told her 10x there was no need to apologize.l. This hotel even went above and beyond during the Mardi Gras festivities by offering different special amenities free of charge. They were not advertised, were not cheap, were impressive, and were not necessary on their part. If I could give this hotel 10 stars if I could. It is worth the price tag. It was immaculate the whole week, and that is no easy feat during Mardi Gras.
Stayed at the JW Marriott during Mardi Gras. The rooms were ok and the location is very convenient for getting around the city. The bellman was the highlight of the stay. He was personable, welcoming, and provided great service from the moment we arrived. We were also able to check in early, which I appreciated. Service overall was mixed. Front desk interactions felt more transactional than warm, and response times were slower than expected. Housekeeping was missed one day, and it took about an hour to receive towels after calling. I understand Mardi Gras is a very busy time, but with premium pricing I expected a more polished and consistent experience. Not a bad stay, just not quite the level of service I anticipated.
Great hotel!! Very nice and clean room, lobby, bar and elevators! Loved the back entrance onto Canal st.! Honestly the shower was very nice! Alan the concierge was amazing, super friendly, warm and inviting! He always had a great recommendation for us and you could tell he was genuinely happy to help! Our Room Attendant Karolina was great! Super efficient and kept our room very clean and organized! It always felt so great to walk back into a clean and organized room at the end of a busy and long day!
First time visitor wanting to experience the Mardi Gras parades in NOLA. Walk right out the back door, and you have great seating to see the all-day parade festivities. Great security measures in requiring room key to enter bldg, restrooms and restaurant. Let me say how wonderful the staff was !!! We arrived on Friday 2/6/26. Our bellhop (I hate I didn’t get his name), was wonderful! Super friendly and helpful. We stayed out late watching Friday night parade. Cherl (with loss prevention) made sure we found our elevators with ease late at night. Super friendly! We enjoyed dinner and drinks too. George was the man and super friendly! Saturday we enjoyed the all day parade festivities. Jamie made my hurricane drink to perfection & topped off with crab burger and super French fries! Wonderful meal for dinner! Checked out Sunday morning. The restaurant staff, bell hops, valet drivers were all on point and made our check out process go smoothly and quickly. Would highly recommend & will definitely be back !
Very satisfied with our stay at the JW Marriott. The rooms and building are modern and clean, staff is friendly, and you couldn't pick a better location to explore New Orleans. We didn't hear any noise from our room even though there was a parade right outside. There are some amenity and internet fees to be aware of, but we still thought it was worth it. Would book again.
The hotel is great located in the center of everything within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and activities in the area. If you are traveling with a baby make sure you request a pack n play. We got a tiny crib for newborns and our 7th month old baby couldn’t sleep in it. I had to request 5 times for something else before the manager of the stuff brought us pack n play otherwise we would have had to cut the trip short and go back home. The room service food is not great but if you have access to the lounge they have unlimited snacks and drinks which was great. Overall the experience was pretty good.
Location is great. Right off one of the main streets of New Orleans. It's easy to get to a lot of the tourist areas and sightsee from this place. For example, it's 0.8 mi away from the national world war II museum. If you can walk you can pretty much go to anywhere you want. It's even close to the trolleys. The bed was super comfortable, probably the most comfortable bit I've slept in in years. Phenomenal! The service with everybody free too. Very cordially and you feel like you are the only guest there. Even though it was a Marriott, you didn't feel like you're talking to iron statues. You felt like people wanted to generally be helpful to you and help you on your way. Ask questions. Have doors open for you? They were all outstanding. Not only was this the best hotel experience we've had. I was definitely better than the Marriotts we've gone to before. Better than any Disney experience better than any rival hotel. The only downside for my perspective was room service was expensive. I expect to pay a premium when I order room service but when there's a fee about 5% plus another fee for 20% and you have to include a tip on top of your food, you're paying more for services than the food. That in mind I did order a little bit of room service. The first time. The food was fresh. Extremely tasty and hot. The gentleman that delivered it to our door saw that I have a disability and was more than willing to help me without me even asking the food down opening up and making sure I was all right before he left. Kudos to have he definitely deserved the tip generous tip. I cannot wait to go back to this Marriott.
We stayed at JW Marriott NOLA for 5 days. When we arrived at the room, we found that the robe in the closet was dirty and never washed. It’s disgusting. We called the front desk and asked for a replacement. We were told that they were out of robes. It was very unprofessional. Worse than most basic Marriott hotels I have stayed at. The overall experience was also very underwhelming. The hotel charges 30 dollars and gave mostly useless benefits (15 hotel credits per day which can get you 1.5 beer). Lobby and the executive lounge are often crowded. Pool was not available.
This hotel is quiet but not dead. Nice bustling hotel but we never had to be in line for check-in or the elevators. Staff are all friendly, and the location is perfect with an extra entrance from Canal street. Short walk to places like Chemin a la Mer, Outlet mall, about 10-15 minutes to places loke Jackson Square, Preservation Hall, Cafe du Monde.
This was truly a wonderful stay from beginning to end. The hospitality was next level and made the experience feel both warm and elevated. The beds were incredibly comfortable, making it easy to fully relax and unwind. The champagne cart was such a thoughtful touch and added a fun, luxurious element to the stay. A special shout-out to Tammy for graciously entertaining my quirky cocktail requests. She makes an exceptional espresso martini and added a personal touch that really stood out. I would absolutely stay here again.
