Guests report this downtown hotel offers modern style and a prime location for exploring New Orleans, but the experience is heavily split between exceptional service and outdated, uncomfortable room facilities like non-working coolers and poor soundproofing.
The staff was awesome but hotel needs updates immediately. Room doors need soundproofing because you can hear everything in the halls like it’s next to you. The beds are too firm and pillows were too soft. No fridge in the room but has coolers that were in bad shape. Coffee machines in room looked like they had never been cleaned. There’s only one mirror in the room and it’s in the bathroom. One of the worst Hilton’s I’ve stay at.
Janae was an amazing drink server! She was so sweet, attentive, and made sure I had a great experience from start to finish. She checked in regularly, kept my drinks coming, and had such a positive attitude the whole time. You can really tell she cares about her customers. Definitely 10/10 service — I would absolutely recommend asking for Janae if you visit. She made my experience even better!
I went down to the lobby this morning to grab a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. I was hesitate on what to order to eat. I asked the young lady jane for some recommendations. She advised me to get the veggie omelet which was Devine by the way. As i was waiting though she recommended me some place to visit in nola. I was thrilled speaking with her this morning! Great personality, awesome service! She is the light of canopy nola. When i revisit i hope she is there with her bubbly personality! :)
Great location for business travelers and actually pretty great for recreational travelers. The only down side to this - and I really hate to hold it against the hotel in this review but it was the bathroom design. The showers are really tight to get in and out of and I wanted it pointed out to make people aware. It may have just been my room but it was not great. As for everything else, the staff was amazing, the lobby was perfect to work in and the food was really good (I do wish room service had returned to the pre-COVID actual dishes concept). Honestly, the price was so great - it makes it easy to overlook anything negative.
The rooms were spotless, and the shower was spacious, which I appreciated. I didn't give 5 stars because breakfast was not included. A recent review from 1 month ago said that this hotel didn't give credits for food/beverage, but in our case, we received 25 USD/person/day due to booking through Amazon Express. That might be different from the Hilton membership credits that the other review mentioned, but they do give credits in at least some circumstances.
It seems most of the bad reviews are about the valet/parking. Hot tip: Don't valet your car and you'll love this hotel. Use the spot hero app and park at the Heal garage 3 blocks away for $16 (24 hours). The hotel itself is awesome. Exactly what a Canopy is supposed to be. Unlike many reviewers, who are likely not typical travelers, I am on the road most of the year and stay in at least 50 Hilton's annually. I know what I'm talking about. I think the coolest thing about this property is that it's the first one I've seen that has gotten rid of plastic bottles! The waters they give at check-in are cans. In your room is a glass bottle that you can fill. On every floor is a hydration station where you can fill them up. Absolutely amazing! Also, the gym is on the 15th floor and has everything you might need. Remember, most of the poor reviews are about parking. Park elsewhere (for less) and you'll have an excellent stay.
Booked through Amex Hotel Collection. What a mistake. Beware that this Canopy does not honor Hilton status if you book thru Amex HC like other Hiltons do. They don't say that at check in, even though the App said that we would get credit for breakfast. There was no room upgrades offered. 2 Cans bottles of water was given. No benefits of Amex HC explained, just given a strip of paper and it seemed like the Amex HC was a burden for them. The room (1013) was concrete floors with strips of carpet around the bed. One good thing was they had Hydration station on each floor and a bottle in the room to refill, no plastic bottle waste. The big bottles of lotion /shampoo/ conditioner etc was good. The restaurant Ginger Roux is no longer the Asian fusion it once was. It was understaffed. They had 1 cook for dinner and breakfast and had to wait for more than 1.5 hrs to get the food after ordering both times. There were multiple billing issues. On the day of leaving we had breakfast to go and they billed some additional items. When I questioned she quickly changed and got the correct bill. At check out I was told everything good and balance was 0 and receipt would be emailed. Later in the evening got Amex notification for the Hilton billing. They billed without giving the Amex $100 credit and charged for the breakfast. I had to call them and ask for the credit. I was told they would give the credit for the Amex but not for breakfast. If we had known that there would be no breakfast credit ,we would never had breakfast there. This hotel should not be part of Amex Hotel collection. It is one of the worst Hilton experience.
Hmmmm… where to start. First off the hotel clerk was very friendly. Toilet stopped up in room and took them a while to fix. Shower water in room never got hot and was lukewarm. Air conditioner worked sometimes. House keeping did a god job cleaning room. Website says valet is $52 but staff said it was $61 a day and you have to pay upfront and it’s not included in the $100 credit with AMX. Only the restaurant and bar is included in the credit. Now the restaurant. Bar was only open around 5 pm. Website says it’s open for breakfast and dinner. We went down for breakfast on Christmas morning. Host was nice but seemed New. Service was slow even though only a few people were there. Took over an hour to get our food. Food was over seasoned. Kitchen staff who served food had a horrible attitude. Husband went down the next day and same staff had the same attitudes. Asked staff what was the latest We could check out and they stated 2pm. Digital automatically checked us out prior to 2 pm wven though we weren’t in the room. We won’t be back.
Spent a few nights here this past weekend & it was a pretty ok experience. Was upgraded to a king suite & it was a great size for 2 people. Beds & pillows were cozy. Shower & bathroom were beautiful! They actually have full sized decent smelling shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lotion. Was happy to see they give you a pump bottle of hand soap & not just a bar like a lot of hotels. The floors are concrete with only 2 area rugs. Some parts of the concrete had chips in them which didn’t look great. No scenic views out of my windows; just of the building next door (but we’re in the city so what do you expect?) The refrigerator in the room (it’s in a drawer under the coffee) wasn’t cold at all even after messing with it a few times. If you’re looking for a microwave, it’s not in your room (at least not mine) it’s on the 3rd floor near the elevators. The staff here is nice & they did tidy the room up every day. I do like that you need to use your key card to access the elevator which is just a little extra safety bonus for me.
This was a pretty solid hotel, nothing great about it, but nothing really wrong with it either. I think the best part of it is the location - it’s right by the Caesar’s, and an easy walk to Bourbon Street. I also liked how they had filtered water on every floor. The biggest downside was the mandatory valet, which took forever and made it a pain to leave. Overall, it’s a solid hotel in a nice location, but you could probably do better if you’re willing to spend a little bit more money.
