Recent guest reviews paint a mixed picture of the AC Hotel New Orleans French Quarter, with recurring concerns about cleanliness, room issues like mildew and broken fixtures, and unsettling staff interactions, including a lockout and an inappropriate room entry. Despite some positive feedback regarding the location and certain staff members, a significant number of guests report significant issues impacting their stay.

It’s taken some reflection before I could leave this review regarding my experience at this AC Hotel. Until this visit, seeing an AC Hotel was always a sign of dependability, I have typically been a loyal fan of the brand. For our last-minute Christmas getaway to New Orleans, booking here seemed an obvious choice. I would strongly urge others to reconsider. First, some practical feedback: Our room had a clear mildew smell. While the sheets were clean and I understand that things can go wrong occasionally, it was not a welcoming first impression. The building’s layout also requires guests to haul luggage up and down stairs after exiting the elevator - not a deal breaker for me, but inconvenient and something many travelers will want to know about. There is another elevator that did seem to go to where the rooms were, but it was not allowed to be used. Now, to the most concerning part of our stay. After a night out(as this is part of what that area of the country is known for), I found myself locked out of my room. Despite presenting my ID when requesting a new key (as I always do), the replacement key didn’t work at first. The front desk agent was very kind/polite and explained there was a system reset causing delays. Eventually, I was able to enter my room and get ready for bed. My reason for this complaint has nothing to do with the wait time, he explained himself and I had been drinking, I was fine and he was a lovely human being. I used the opportunity to eat some late night chicken... lol. Not long after arriving back at my room, a very tall male staff member let himself into our room. He then demanded I prove my right to be there by showing my key, startling both me and my (sleeping until then) friend. This was an extremely distressing and inappropriate way to verify guest identity - especially given that I’d already presented ID downstairs. It was a terrifying experience. I woke my parents who were traveling with us and in their own room, as we were now wide awake and my dad communicated with the front desk. We collectively decided to sleep for a few hours and see how we felt. The next morning, still feeling uncomfortable, we chose to check out early. The hotel did release my parent’s room from the reservation; and they only had to pay for 1 night of parking (operated by a third party but arranged through the hotel). My room and parking were not given the same consideration adding further frustration. My friend reached out as she realized this was trauma for me and was put in touch with Jamie, Director of Operations for that location with the property's management company (Concord Hospitality), hoping for a reasonable conversation and remediation. The responses she received were dismissive, citing company policy and systems reset as explanations and offering no genuine empathy for the intrusion or distress caused. She was told identity checks were necessary for security, yet at no point has it ever been appropriate, in all my years of hotel stays, for a staff member to enter a guest's locked room late at night and request identification inside the room - AFTER identification had already been presented. I am sharing this experience for the benefit of future travelers. It's not the lack of reimbursement (though that would have been nice). There are basic expectations for guest privacy and safety that were not upheld here, and the management’s handling of the incident did not reflect the standard of customer care I associate with AC Hotels or Marriott brands. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this property and based on the response, I question Concord Hospitality as well. The wait time was never the problem.

The fact I’m even spending my time writing a review for this says a lot. The hotel has the name AC and let me tell ya that our AC in the room was not was not it. Crank it down to the lowest and it felt like 75 degrees in the room. Maintenance said that’s the coldest it would get. I also bought a snack at the hotel where they have a sign that says candy and snacks are from $3-$10 and came to found out I got charge $13 for ONE snack. I also went to the front desk and asked for a trash bag and I was told a janitor would take it to my room. Never came to my room and came to find out there wasn’t any janitors working at the moment. So I went to the front desk again and asked for a trash bag and was told they couldn’t give me one because the janitors weren’t there and they are not allowed to give me a trash bag. Can someone explain that rule? Terrible experience, do not recommend

Lloyd provided absolutely outstanding customer service from start to finish. He was professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was handled perfectly. He answered all my questions with patience. It’s rare to come across someone who goes above and beyond the way he does. Truly 5/5 service

The location and the room was great. The front customer service was horrible. Taglor and Gage treated like us garbage. We paid to stay for 6 days but during the middle of our stay Taylor said that our reservation was for us to check out and come back the new morning to recheck in because it appears that their system split our booking days up. Our room that we had was empty for one night because of Taylor and his rude, areogrant behavior. Absoultely rude and neglience. He kicked us out in the middle of the streets at 10 pm with no where to go and tried to apologize to us. I'm not about to pay you 800 dollars for another night when I paid you almost 1800 dollars. I will never stay at this hotel ever again as long as Taylor works there.

So I would have liked a microwave and the laminate floors are kinda destroyed near the bathroom door but the attention to detail is phenomenal! The towels are full size, the outlets are not worn out, there are tons of USB A outlets, the coffee bar in the room has actual creamer not powder packets, and the mini fridge is designed to not only fit to-go containers but 2liter bottles and wine bottles. I had champagne, prosecco two red wines, bottle of OJ for mimosas, to-go container, a pizza box, water bottles and seltzers in this tiny little fridge that's super cold not barely cold like some hotels. The under-glow lighting so you can see at night to pee was great! The shower door opens inward, the shampoo and body wash actually lathers up nice and works, there's an actual shower wand! Rainhead and shower wand so you don't have to get sprayed with cold water turning on the shower. You can reach the towels from the shower when you're done and wet, water doesn't just pour out from under the door onto the floor.....not the nicest room I've stayed in but pleasantly surprised with the little details

Location was great. Close enough to walk to French Quarter. The ice machine needs a descaling and this was the toilet noticed upon doing a light cleaning the next morning….disgusting! Male Front desk staff very rude our last night, however the manager was very apologetic and willing to make it right. Upon check up Taylor was an absolute representation of how you should be treated where you CHOOSE to stay. I will not stay at this Marriott location again.

Safe hotel and clean rooms. Quiet location. Housekeeping staff was very courteous, Lloyd checked us in and provided excelent check in service. I booked through Orbitz and on the way to the hotel I took the time to read the Google reviews which are bad and I was skeptical. When Lloyd checked us in he asked the preference for the room and he complied, giving me high floor, room 807. I decided to extend an extra day through Orbitz and they accommodated me without any hustle and he extended my room key as well without any inconvenience. The hotel is very safe and secure, access to the elevator only with room key and the main entrance closes at night and only available with key. Convenience store with the best fried chicken right at the corner of the block, open 24/7. Thank you Lloyd and Madison, the front desk clerk that I interacted with, and also the gentleman that gave me back the luggage after I left it there for awhile after I checked out, thank you. Without hesitation I will be back to this hotel on my next stay in New Orleans!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL! We stayed two nights and had to switch rooms immediately after checking in due to a HUGE ceiling leak in the bathroom. The second night we were moved to another floor and it WREAKED of Stetson cologne and cigar smoke! The ac in the room was awful! We should have had them move us but we didn’t unfortunately. The neighbor on the 6th floor was smoking cigarettes in his room and it was coming into our room and it made me super nauseous! The location was amazing and all of the staff was very friendly with the exception of the older white lady who checked us in. She had a nasty attitude and knew NOTHING! Kitchen staff and Deon were our favorites! Total dolls! THEY DO NOT HAVE PARKING!!! Be prepared to pay $30-50 a night to park nearby! The breakfast Belgian waffles were stupid delicious but juice is $3 for a small cup. The location is ideal and a short walk from the Bourbon House Restaurant which has wonderful draft ipas and killer cuisine! Check them out and ask for Giovanni! He’s excellent!

So let's start with the good. The staff was excellent. Check in was fast simple. I was in town for a couple of days and every time I would come in and out the staff would check and ask how my stay was or if I needed anything. Even the housekeeping people were super friendly if you passed them in the hall. The location is about as good as you can be for downtown NOLA. You are a couple blocks from the French Quarter but far enough away that you are not in it. And there is a CVS at the corner if you want or need anything. The rooms are not bad. But they are not fantastic. Some of it is the building. Some rooms are tiny and others are huge. Like most hotels in NOLA this building was probably not always a hotel and the room layouts are odd and sometimes down right confusing. I have stayed here multiple times and both times the flooring was messed up and not in great condition. The rooms are clean but could probably use a re-fresh. Most of the windows in the hotel look across an alley at another window 10 feet away so don't expect a view of the city. All in all the hotel is pretty good. It's not glamorous but it is definitely better than many other hotels in the area.

So far so good. I was a little nervous with the mixed reviews. Our room is clean and has everything we need. Thanks to Lloyd for a seamless check in, recommends and overall customer service.
