Loft 523 offers stylish, spacious accommodations in a prime French Quarter location, though reviews are divided by conflicting experiences. Recent guests praise its modern decor, privacy, and atmosphere, while others report significant issues with guest check-in procedures, booking management, and safety concerns for unescorted guests.
Our experience at Loft 523 is fantastic. A special shout out to Miraya at the front desk, who is super hospitable and incredibly helpful. She gave us some great tips and directions that really made our visit that much better. We highly recommend this stylish and welcoming hotel!
This was in a incredible location!! Everything is a quick walk away. I literally barely used Uber. But keep in mind.... I dont mind walking. A walk to burbon street was around 15 minutes. And a walk to the main street (canal) was maybe 5 minutes? If your younger and dont mind walking... this was in a great location!!! I love walking so to me... everything was about a 15 or 20 minute walk. I walked to 4 different booked tours and even walked to the superdome to see the saints play. Loved it!!!
I was scammed by Chris at the front desk. He sold us a tourist service he knew we could not attend, deliberately giving us false information so we would buy it and he could take his commission. What should have been a smooth experience turned into extreme stress, a $118 loss, and wasted time we can’t get back. When I raised this with the Manager on duty, she defended him and called it a “mistake.” It was not. We spoke with Chris for nearly 30 minutes, clearly explaining our situation. He knew the timing wouldn’t work, yet lied and reassured us only to secure the sale. The Manager promised a refund, gave me her card, and told me to email her. I’ve now emailed her twice with no reply. Five days have passed with complete silence, making me believe she may also be complicit. The hotel itself is fine for price and location, but staff behavior here is unacceptable. Upselling tourists on third-party services for personal commission is not hospitality, it’s predatory. The only staff member who showed empathy was the night shift front desk female, who saw what happened but had no authority to help. The Manager has the power to make this right but has chosen to ignore me. One of the worst hotel check-in experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world.
This is our second time staying at Loft 523. A few things have changed as far as checking in is concerned, but the staff is still very friendly & helpful. Chris is a hoot lol! We really appreciated his hospitality. There is currently construction going on so if noise bothers you ask for a room away from the street if possible. The hotel is in a great location & in walking distance to a lot of the main attractions New Orleans has to offer. Cute cafe with a bar is located on the corner of Gravier St. & Camp St. Will definitely stay again!!
I experienced not wanting to leave... The hospitality and attention to details were unmatched by my other hotel stays. As a military veteran, I developed a keen eye and this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Chris, at the front desk and Leslie Hubbard the director went out of their way to ensure that the guests that I met while there, felt acknowledged and welcomed past the check-in experience. They were really welcoming, professional, and attentive throughout my stay. The room was spotless, spacious, and nicely decorated. The bed was uncommonly comfortable, and small touches like the artistic lighting made the room feel luxurious. I made great use of the separate bathtub, which was clean and in a well-maintained restroom, and thoughtfully designed. The balcony was a highlight! It is perfectly located within walking distance to Canal Street and Bourbon Street, yet quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a getaway, business trip, family vacation, etc. This was the second hotel I stayed at in the two weeks I visited New Orleans, but it'll be the only one I want to return to!
Ija was a true a pleasure upon entering the hotel. I was surprised with the value this hotel offered. Very modern and clean, along with being so spacious. I will definitely stay here again.
It is very difficult to find a room within the French quarter as good as this. I almost don’t want to say how nice it is as I would like to keep these lofts all to myself. There are several strange reviews that say the water drips in the shower…not true. The balcony doors do not lock…not true. In fact, this place is awesome. High ceilings, modern bathroom, clean slippers and robe are in the room for your lady, hairdryer, etc. The bathroom has a very modern tub and shower both are super nice. Very quiet area and our receptionist Lassandra couldn’t be more nice and courteous. We ended up parking in a small parking lot right in front of the Loft523 and the sister hotel International Hotel is literally right around the corner. If you are the kind of person who likes valet parking, etc then this is not for you. But if you are looking for a very spacious room, gorgeous bathroom and a quiet evening with your loved one then I highly recommend.
I booked a stay at Loft 523 for a Taylor Swift concert a year in advance, only to find out upon arrival that my reservation had been canceled without any notification. The management staff were completely unhelpful and offered no apologies or alternatives. Now, with the Super Bowl coming up in a few months, I want to warn others that this hotel might pull the same stunt. When I had to scramble to find a last-minute hotel, I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money on a place much further away that didn’t feel safe. With everything booked up, I had no choice but to settle for a subpar option. It seems this hotel may be overbooking and then canceling reservations to cash in on higher rates from desperate last-minute guests. If you’re planning to stay here for the Super Bowl, think twice. You might find yourself in a tough spot, just like I did. Save yourself the hassle and look for a hotel that respects its guests!
Disappointing Decline in Quality Since My Last Stay I previously stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience. It used to be a vibrant spot with a lively bar and club downstairs, but sadly, things have changed. I stayed here again in June 2023, and it feels like the place has really gone downhill. There was no desk attendant to greet me, which immediately set a different tone compared to my previous visit. The atmosphere that was once energetic and vibrant was missing, and it just didn’t have the same appeal. It’s unfortunate to see such a decline in what was once a great place to stay. I hope management takes steps to bring back the charm it once had.
i stayed in the loft with the private 325sqft balcony, and had a perfect time on this trip! there are a few negative reviews that scared me, but mostly due to the check in process which is easy anyways. although it’s not accurately described on the website or their airbnb page, there’s enough reviews that you should easily see and grasp the info. go to loft 523 and drop bags off/check in. get a valet tag, and drive over to IHH and park for valet access. IHH is literally a 2 minute walk away, so carrying bags shouldn’t be too big of a deal. regardless of where you are in FQ, the hotel is a 10-20 minute walk away. crossing canal wasn’t that bad either. the hotel: ONLY complaint is shower water pressure. the tub was huge and amazing, large bathroom space and super clean. two showerheads also. the room has no fluorescent lightings, but warm yellow lights instead that can be dimmed. i would recommend bringing a mirror with bright lights for people who like to do heavy makeup. balcony was extremely private and beautiful. the hotel overall was very lowkey, with a bar next door and again, literally do not need a vehicle if you stay here. checkout at 12pm was a lifesaver after surviving bourbon st. too lol. also had no issues w valet ($42/night), although we only requested the car at checkout (and accidentally left a very valuable watch inside, which was in the same spot upon return and no other items were tampered with). i would 10000% stay here again for the privacy and ambiance. if you’re the kind of person who values privacy and doesn’t need a million things from your hotel staff, this is the place for you! i think the negative reviews are mostly from people who prefer a 24/7 staff and were confused about the check in, but personally i never really need anything after i check in or have ever had to bother staff for something. can’t wait to come back:)
