Located in the heart of the French Quarter, this property offers exceptional access to attractions but suffers from significant inconsistencies in housekeeping and staff management. Guests frequently praise the lovely team and prime location but frequently report issues with room cleanliness, maintenance, and response time.
Stayed for a week. Rooms are out dated, skuffed, and partially cleaned. Elevators were dirty and sticky. Location is great but for a 4 star hotel, you would expect more. I will say room service was good and they situated the room well everyday. There was a musty sent in the room upon arrival that never left. Good for the location but not much else.
I cannot say enough good things about our stay here! We were greeting with amazing service and kindness right from the start. Byron helped make my girlfriend's birthday amazing with gifts just for her and getting us checked in early. The entire staff was always helpful and friendly. I also love that it is right next to bourbon Street and easy access to everything we want to see and do. This is my go to hotel everytime we visit New Orleans.
We stayed during Mardi Gras and, while the location and parade balcony access were appreciated, the overall experience did not reflect a 4-star standard. The issue was not volume. We expected crowds. We expected lines. What was frustrating was the lack of operational consistency. Check-in was incomplete. Guests were issued room keys without being provided or informed about security credentials or vouchers. These were only discovered later after encountering issues or learning from other guests. For an annual, predictable high-volume event, materials could have been pre-prepared and distributed cohesively at arrival. Security relied on disposable paper wristbands that were not issued at check-in. After removing mine to shower (they are not waterproof), I did not think about it again until nearly 24 hours later when I attempted to re-enter and was reprimanded. I was told my husband would need to obtain a replacement for me, despite the reservation being under my name and him not being listed on it. Replacement bands reportedly carry a $27.99 fee. Access enforcement appeared inconsistently applied across our group, which occupied five rooms. Front desk queue management was similarly uneven. Guests were verbally told there was a line, only for that rule to be immediately relaxed. It wasn’t the wait that was frustrating — it was the contradiction. Our bathroom carried a persistent odor from day one. Additional blankets were requested and never delivered; the room was stocked only with a thin sheet and quilt. Breakfast vouchers were not communicated at check-in and were discovered from another guest on our final day. Frontline staff appeared to be doing their best under pressure. The breakdown was structural. Leadership owes it to both guests and employees to implement systems that are clear, cohesive, and consistently enforced. At peak-season pricing, operational precision should not feel optional.
I had such a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter. I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel and its staff. From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly and the hotel was beautiful. The location says Bourbon St. but it faces Canal St. and conveniently located to everything. I was traveling with my two girlfriend (think middle aged) and felt very comfortable and safe at the hotel. After I checked I realized I had accidentally left my wallet in the room, and as soon as I reported it, the staff jumped into action. They found it quickly and made sure it was returned to me right away, which was such a relief and truly made my day. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New Orleans that wanted to need close to the quarter and great restaurants.
I needed to leave a review for this hotel. I read the reviews and wasn't sure how it'd work out. It turned out to be one of the best customer service experiences in the best location. I'm not an "easy" guest to please. I call multiple times with random questions days until checking in. Not one staff member made me feel like I was a bother. They were super knowledgeable about the area and all the goings on during Mardi Gras times. Upon arrival, I checked in with Joy and Makaya... just the most welcoming, genuinely kind and helpful individuals. That set the tone of the entire trip. The location is prime, didn't get a chance to use vouchers at the restaurant unfortunately! What may be considered a little dated in design, I considered a bit charming. The rooms very spacious enough for all your needs. Valet parking was another above standard service. They were on top of it coming in and checking out. A well oiled machine. There was early check in available this particular morning which was of importance because road closures. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Not to sound extra, but I stay usually at 4-5 star locations eith nothing under 4.5 and above stars. Being ot was a last minute trip this is what I booked and am just baffled at how there is a rating anything less. I'd recommend this place 100% and the price point is incredible for what I got. I'll be frequenting this place in the future. A true gem. Thanks to an amazing staff, namely Makaya and Joy. Thank you.
Amazing location.. we got a great deal for the weekend. Rooms have definitely seen better days but overall it was okay... Shower curtain was torn in multiple places. Tub had cracks/rusty.. windows were filthy. They only had one clerk at check in so that took awhile even as a member of the loyalty program. $55 a night for valet parking is crazy..I ended up parking in a city garage across the street for $25 a night instead. One of the best locations to the French quarter as your right in bourbon and canal street.. We were on the 13th floor (yes a hotel with an actual 13th floor) so street noise wasn't bad from our room overlooking Bourbon. AC was pretty loud so I guess that kind of helped???
I was in new orleans for my birthday. And when we first got there we had just a regular room king size bed and when I looked out the window the only thing I saw was a wall. So I called the front desk and ask kindly could they switch out room so I can have a scenery. The young lady name Jessica upgraded us to a suite.? no extra charge. And I had a view to look at canal st and see the night lights. She said that was for my birthday. I thought that was a very nice surprise. Also the ladies at the front desk were very friendly. The night of my birthday I was at the front desk talking to one of the girls til 130am. Very friendly ladies. Very helpful. I would go back to stay at this hotel again.
????? Five Stars, Zero Notes — Outstanding Service We had a fantastic stay at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter – Astor while in town for the Sugar Bowl. The experience started strong and never let up, thanks in large part to Nira at the front desk. She was absolutely outstanding — warm, welcoming, and effortlessly on top of everything. Check-in was smooth, and if hotels handed out MVP trophies, Nira would be walking away with one. The hotel’s location is perfect — right in the heart of the French Quarter, close to everything. The room was clean, comfortable, and honestly I'll be a hot mess tonight anyway so won't remember it anyway. Bottom line: great location, great hotel, exceptional service. I would 100% recommend this property to anyone visiting New Orleans. And if Nira is the first person you see when you arrive, you’re already winning. We’ll absolutely be back. Go Dawgs!
Loved the room wish I could’ve had a better view, was facing a building lol. The air conditioning was freezing thermostat didn’t work. For older handicapped people a higher toilet would have been better. The first keurig wasn’t working and it should have two blankets in the room since it was a two queen beds. But THE FRONT DESK CREW ESPECIALLY JOYWAS A JOY JOY JOY JOY????! The double duo was charming smiling we took pictures with we felt like family. Love you guys ???? Also Eric the Bell Person was a Complete Gentleman! Very friendly communicative knowledgeable and helpful to me and my girlfriend. Definitely represent your hotel!??
I read reviews ALOT. This time tho my husband planned the entire trip, so I was unsure, right off Bourbon what we would be walking into. Always a party...Right? EVERY staff member was friendly and most helpful. But, Im friendly so there's that. Our room was clean. We had everything we needed. I will tell you tho if you like a firm mattress with AMAZING pillows this place may not be for you. Also if you like your showers cold with no water pressure this place isn't for you. HOT WATER that felt great after a long day of walking. We even had a spotless little fridge that we filled with candy apples from right next door and POPEYES and of course leftovers from Golden Wall which has the best fried rice. We will definitely be back...GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!!!
