The Astor Crowne Plaza in New Orleans offers a prime location in the French Quarter, close to Bourbon Street and Canal Street attractions. While guests consistently praise the friendly and attentive staff, particularly at the front desk and restaurant, there are recurring concerns about outdated room conditions, inconsistent service levels, and occasional issues with cleanliness and amenities. Recent reviews highlight a mixed experience, with some guests expressing frustration over room quality and fees.

We visited New Orleans to celebrate my niece’s law school graduation at Southern University, 15-18 May 2026. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter–Astor. From the moment we arrived, the level of hospitality made a lasting impression. Jamal provided outstanding, personalized service at check-in, ensuring our arrival experience was smooth and welcoming. Douglas, at the front desk, was equally courteous and attentive, reflecting the professionalism we consistently encountered throughout the hotel. As someone who values high standards in hospitality and has experienced accommodations in many destinations, I can say with confidence that the service at this property stands out. The beds and bedding were exceptionally comfortable—so much so that they made it difficult to leave the room and join our scheduled festivities. The elevators, hallways, and guest rooms were consistently immaculate, reflecting a strong commitment to cleanliness and guest comfort. The hotel’s prime location near Bourbon Street also made it especially convenient to navigate the city and enjoy the surrounding attractions. In addition, the staff was knowledgeable about the area and current events, which added a thoughtful and helpful dimension to our stay. The hotel also offers a wonderful full-service restaurant and bar, with an ample selection that enhances the overall guest experience. I especially appreciated the balance between the property’s historic character and modern comfort—the lobby showcases the charm of its original finishes, while the guest rooms feel updated, inviting, and well-appointed. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return on a future visit to New Orleans. Please extend my sincere appreciation to Byron Cerre, Jamal, Douglas, and the entire team for making our visit so memorable. Vicki Leshon Mack V3 Travel Agency

My stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans was great from start to finish. The customer service truly made the experience memorable. A special thank you to Caleb, the valet attendant, who was always professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Always quick to assist with a smile. His positive attitude and attention to guests made arriving and departing stress-free. I would also like to recognize Cardi at the front desk. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect during my visit. Her outstanding hospitality made me feel like a valued guest Additionally, Assistant Finance Director Assaf deserves special recognition for his assistance in resolving a billing error. He handled the matter quickly, professionally, and with genuine concern for customer satisfaction. His responsiveness and dedication turned what could have been a frustrating situation into a seamless resolution. He was absolutely awesome. Thanks to team members like Caleb, Cardi, and Assaf, the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans delivers the kind of service that keeps guests coming back. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again. Ms. Benard

Stayed one night at this property and as much as I wanted to look for the positives, overall the experience fell short… What you must know without judgement: This is a historical hotel so we knew the property would not be super renovated. The location is also considered prime so expect lots of noise - especially if you’re there during heavy tourist season or the weekends. The hotel cannot do much about the Bourbon Street noise. The good: Front desk staff was great - check in was smooth and everyone was very friendly. We were gifted a welcome bag for having IHG status. The location is also great for people who want to stay in the heart of the city. While outdated, the property was generally clean and the water pressure was decent. The cons: The bed was extremely uncomfortable - firm and not in a good way. Valet service our first day was nonexistent and we ended up just ubering to dinner instead of trying to wait for our car. While not updated, the room left a lot to be desired - there wasn’t a comforter on the bed…just a top sheet. We didn’t have hand soap in the bathroom sink. It just felt a bit sad overall.

Location and service was great. There was a weird smell in the lobby and front part of the room. I am pretty sure it was from the streets though and older ac system. Didn't want to complain too much we were upgraded. Had a great time. They always asked if we were satisfied. It can get noisy on the weekends we were in a room facing bourbon and canal. Even on the 5th floor. So if noise bothers you ask for higher floors.

My husband and I recently visited New Orleans from Chicago and had a wonderful stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza in the French Quarter. I want to give a special thank you to Byron and Juan for truly going above and beyond. We initially had a few difficulties with our room, but they handled everything immediately and professionally. Not only did they resolve the issue quickly, but they also upgraded our room and made sure we were completely comfortable for the rest of our stay. What stood out most was how genuinely kind and attentive they were—they made us feel welcomed, cared for, and honestly like family. Their hospitality completely turned our experience around and made our trip even more memorable. The location is fantastic, the atmosphere is lively, and thanks to Byron and Juan, the service was exceptional. We’ll absolutely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New Orleans! 10/10 experience.

Stayed for a week. Rooms are out dated, skuffed, and partially cleaned. Elevators were dirty and sticky. Location is great but for a 4 star hotel, you would expect more. I will say room service was good and they situated the room well everyday. There was a musty sent in the room upon arrival that never left. Good for the location but not much else.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay here! We were greeting with amazing service and kindness right from the start. Byron helped make my girlfriend's birthday amazing with gifts just for her and getting us checked in early. The entire staff was always helpful and friendly. I also love that it is right next to bourbon Street and easy access to everything we want to see and do. This is my go to hotel everytime we visit New Orleans.

We stayed during Mardi Gras and, while the location and parade balcony access were appreciated, the overall experience did not reflect a 4-star standard. The issue was not volume. We expected crowds. We expected lines. What was frustrating was the lack of operational consistency. Check-in was incomplete. Guests were issued room keys without being provided or informed about security credentials or vouchers. These were only discovered later after encountering issues or learning from other guests. For an annual, predictable high-volume event, materials could have been pre-prepared and distributed cohesively at arrival. Security relied on disposable paper wristbands that were not issued at check-in. After removing mine to shower (they are not waterproof), I did not think about it again until nearly 24 hours later when I attempted to re-enter and was reprimanded. I was told my husband would need to obtain a replacement for me, despite the reservation being under my name and him not being listed on it. Replacement bands reportedly carry a $27.99 fee. Access enforcement appeared inconsistently applied across our group, which occupied five rooms. Front desk queue management was similarly uneven. Guests were verbally told there was a line, only for that rule to be immediately relaxed. It wasn’t the wait that was frustrating — it was the contradiction. Our bathroom carried a persistent odor from day one. Additional blankets were requested and never delivered; the room was stocked only with a thin sheet and quilt. Breakfast vouchers were not communicated at check-in and were discovered from another guest on our final day. Frontline staff appeared to be doing their best under pressure. The breakdown was structural. Leadership owes it to both guests and employees to implement systems that are clear, cohesive, and consistently enforced. At peak-season pricing, operational precision should not feel optional.

I had such a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter. I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel and its staff. From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly and the hotel was beautiful. The location says Bourbon St. but it faces Canal St. and conveniently located to everything. I was traveling with my two girlfriend (think middle aged) and felt very comfortable and safe at the hotel. After I checked I realized I had accidentally left my wallet in the room, and as soon as I reported it, the staff jumped into action. They found it quickly and made sure it was returned to me right away, which was such a relief and truly made my day. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New Orleans that wanted to need close to the quarter and great restaurants.

I needed to leave a review for this hotel. I read the reviews and wasn't sure how it'd work out. It turned out to be one of the best customer service experiences in the best location. I'm not an "easy" guest to please. I call multiple times with random questions days until checking in. Not one staff member made me feel like I was a bother. They were super knowledgeable about the area and all the goings on during Mardi Gras times. Upon arrival, I checked in with Joy and Makaya... just the most welcoming, genuinely kind and helpful individuals. That set the tone of the entire trip. The location is prime, didn't get a chance to use vouchers at the restaurant unfortunately! What may be considered a little dated in design, I considered a bit charming. The rooms very spacious enough for all your needs. Valet parking was another above standard service. They were on top of it coming in and checking out. A well oiled machine. There was early check in available this particular morning which was of importance because road closures. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Not to sound extra, but I stay usually at 4-5 star locations eith nothing under 4.5 and above stars. Being ot was a last minute trip this is what I booked and am just baffled at how there is a rating anything less. I'd recommend this place 100% and the price point is incredible for what I got. I'll be frequenting this place in the future. A true gem. Thanks to an amazing staff, namely Makaya and Joy. Thank you.
