The Omni Royal Orleans offers a prime location in the heart of the French Quarter, combining historic charm with access to New Orleans' vibrant culture. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, ongoing construction impacting amenities, and some dated rooms, creating a mixed experience for guests.
The Lobby is the nicest place in the hotel. They called me a day prior to check in to let me know that the room we booked is not available due to construction. I’m sure they knew about the construction way before, but waited last minute to let me know which makes it hard for us to find another accommodation. They offered to move us to a suite, which I thought would be an upgrade… NOT. The suite was old, outdated and dirty. Also, no microwave which is a basic need for hotel rooms. The televisions were so dark and settings aren’t available to adjust brightness. Our pullout bed was disgusting it had stains on the couch and on the bed. They clearly didn’t change the sheets before putting us there because there were hairs and dirt on it. The robes also smelled like my grandpa. Not exaggerating. I should have read reviews prior to booking but I feel like I was catfish from the hotel website. Overall, It’s worth 1 star but i gave it a 2 because the lobby was decent and the location was good, however, will never book here again.
This review is a bit late due to some personal matters, but I didn’t want to miss the chance to thank the entire hotel team for making our Mardi Gras trip—celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and our birthdays—so special. The hotel is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. From the moment we arrived early, the front desk staff set the tone with their professionalism and kindness. The bell staff was outstanding throughout our stay, including helping us with a very early morning departure. We enjoyed the bar, and the restaurant downstairs was truly excellent. Everyone treated us like family and made every moment positive and memorable. The location is perfect for anything you want to do in the city. My sincere thanks to the whole team and management. You uphold a very high standard, and it shows. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
When we arrived in New Orleans, it was before check-in, and we were told we would receive a text message when our room was ready. That seemed perfectly reasonable, and we spent the afternoon in the French Quarter. Unfortunately, no text was ever sent, and we later had to return to the hotel ourselves to ask about the room, only to be told it had already been ready. When we entered the room, it was extremely hot. Although the thermostat was set to 67 degrees, it was clear that it was not functioning properly. Since we were only stopping in briefly before dinner, we reported the issue to the front desk on our way out. The representative told us this was a common problem and assured us it would be fixed before we returned that evening. After a very enjoyable night in the French Quarter, we came back to the hotel around midnight expecting the issue to have been resolved. Instead, the room was still uncomfortably hot, and the thermostat had clearly not been addressed. At that point, after a full day of travel and activities, we were exhausted. Having already reported the problem once and received no follow-through, we decided not to spend more time dealing with the front desk again at midnight. As a result, we endured one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever had in any hotel. What is most frustrating is not just the room issue itself, but the complete lack of follow-through after we reported it and were assured it would be handled. The accommodations and level of service we experienced at the Omni Royal Orleans were far below what we would expect from any hotel, let alone one marketed as a premium property. You can put all the marble you like in the atrium of this hotel, and will never make up for the poor accommodations and total lack of service.
Not impressed. Stayed here for a work conference (no choice of other hotels). For the price, this place should be a lot nicer. The place is obviously run down with just quick fixes meant to cover up the issues. Staff was rude and acted like they were mad I existed. WiFi did not work. Housekeeping failed to provide a bath mat, washcloths, etc. Ended up with five bottles of shampoo and no body wash. A/C in the rooms is bad and doesn’t go lower than 68. All of the amenities (including that fabulous rooftop deck that everyone mentions) are closed through the end of 2026. Construction all day everyday, cuts hot water off. The location of this hotel is its only redeeming quality. The lobby is pretty too.
We hosted our corporate meeting at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel, and the entire experience was fantastic from beginning to end. Everyone we encountered—from the service staff to the doormen and bell staff—were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and responsive to our needs. The level of hospitality truly made a difference for our team. The guest rooms were clean and comfortable, and the Grand Salon Ballroom was the perfect space for our event—elegant, spacious, and well-suited for a professional gathering. A very special thank?you to Nicole Erikson and Sherie Bodenheimer for helping us coordinate all the details. Their organization and support ensured that everything ran smoothly. Our Banquet Captain, Milton Rivers, deserves special recognition—he was there with me every morning, checking in, assisting with every detail, and making sure our event went off without a hitch. His professionalism and attentiveness were outstanding. We also want to recognize Christopher Beach with Pinnacle Live for his excellent technical support. He handled our AV setup with precision, ensuring our presentations, lighting, and sound were flawless throughout. We highly recommend the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel for corporate events, large gatherings, or even a short stay in New Orleans. The staff, service, and venue quality are truly exceptional.
We had a wonderful stay at the Omni! The location can’t be beat. The staff were friendly and attentive. They surprised us with champagne for my husband’s birthday. Highly recommend for anyone visiting that wants to be able to walk to the Quarter, Bourbon St., Canal, etc.
The rooms were okay, the location is pretty great in the middle of the French Quarter - though there is a lot of construction.Best part of this place is the new music venue where my wife and I were glad to get away from the Frenchmen/Bourbon scene and relax to some really talented musicians. We caught Or and his band twice during our visit and it was just what we needed to escape the loud, in your face scene of Nola (which we also enjoyed but weren't looking for at our hotel). We also stayed for Glenn and his band and that was nice but we had been out all day and were enjoying something less in our face (though both bands had great musicians on them!)
We stayed here the week of our wedding. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room overlooked Royal and we could hear music and street noise, but it wasn’t enough to keep us awake. The hotel is in great location in the quarter, close to everything. The staff was always over-the-top helpful, everyone including the bellman that helped with our luggage, the doorman, and the concierge made sure all our needs were met. We would definitely stay again when we are in town.
The hotel is in a great location, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The property itself is beautiful. However, we specifically booked this hotel knowing it would be around 80 degrees and because it advertised a fitness center and a pool—both of which were under construction during our stay. Unfortunately, there was no notice or update on the website to indicate that these amenities were unavailable. This resulted in us having to find gyms and other options off-site when we expected to use the hotel’s facilities. Additionally, only one elevator was working the entire time. We stayed during Christmas weekend with multiple wedding parties in the hotel, so it was very crowded. Being on a higher floor meant frequently carrying luggage and belongings up and down the stairs, which were also being used by staff. While the hotel itself is lovely and the staff were kind, the lack of transparency about amenities and the elevator situation really put a damper on our stay. Clear communication on the website would have made a big difference.
Excellent staff from front to back! Their people is thir best asset! Really great location near Bourbon, shopping on Royal and historical everywhere! The room /bathroom has been updated. Very spacious and comfortable. The only downside at the hotel was massive modifications going on. Pool, lobby, elevators, second floor...construction.
