The Omni Royal Orleans is a historic hotel in a prime location within New Orleans’ French Quarter, offering a blend of classic charm and modern amenities. Recent reviews highlight both positive experiences with friendly staff and exceptional service, alongside concerns about dated rooms, occasional maintenance issues, and inconsistent experiences with amenities.
Beautiful hotel with a great location in the Quarter. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the only issue was some noisy guests walking down the hallway one evening. Oh and the bathroom was very nice but could use a ventilator especiallyafter a hot shower. Bed was very comfortable. Check-in was smooth. Just wish they had a free self-parking lot. Loved the little cafe as well as the Jazz club. They were working on the roof top pool so it was closed during our stay but were told we could walk down to their sister hotel and use theirs. We hadn't planned on swimming anyway so not a big deal. So Overall this is a nice hotel.
I’m giving this hotel 3 stars because it has some great qualities but also some significant drawbacks. The location is fantastic—within easy walking distance of just about everything you’d want to see and do. The service was also exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the room itself did not meet expectations. The carpet had multiple stains, and, most notably, our room did not have working air conditioning. We called twice for assistance and were provided with two fans, which helped somewhat, but for a room costing more than $300 per night, I expect functioning AC, especially in the South. While we appreciated the excellent location and customer service, the room quality and lack of air conditioning were major disappointments. If we return to the area, we’ll be looking for a hotel that offers a more comfortable and updated room experience.
This was a 60 th birthday for my best friend .She was paying for the hotel. I was paying for my valet partying. I arrived first. I let the front desk know. I left my American Express for valet. When she arrived she told them her visa for the room for 3 days. Well that same day I got a charge on my card for 788.00. I went to the front desk. They explained they made an error. That I would be credited in 3-5 business days. This was Tuesday. On Thursday house keeping was trying to clean our room saying we needed to check out. Then the front desk called asking to speak to my friend. She explained that our check out day was Friday not Thursday. Then they checked their records and apologized. I went to the front desk on Friday before check out. I spoke to the lady and she said it was noted on the account. American Express for valet and visa for room. Well they charged my friend for 2 days valet on her visa. I called today 6/3/26 to speak to a manger. She said she was a manger. She said she could charge my American Express and credit my friends visa. This is just not what I expected from the Omni hotel. Was a horrible experience. No apologies no explanation why we had so so many errors on our visit. No invitation to enjoy a better experience on another day. Very disappointing experience.
Great location. The lobby, staff and amenities were nice—although the pool wasn’t working during our visit. It’s clear that this hotel is very very old. The rooms and bathrooms were old and outdated. Shows pressure was great. The hallways and rooms definitely have an old musty smell. The carpets in the rooms also look pretty old and dirty — in need of all new carpeting. The bathroom counter space is tiny and the mirror lighting is awful. The beds are very soft and cushiony. This was too soft for me though. Lastly, our room thermostat didn’t work so we needed take call the front desk to call the building engineer to adjust our room temp every time!! I used the basement gym which was very nice and new looking. There was no bathroom nearby in the same floor so I went back to the upstairs main floor lobby to grab some tissue. The gym had a very unpleasant rubber or chemically type smell that was tangerine bathroom. I enjoyed that we could ship Amazon packages here and they have their own jazz events inside the girl. This hotel was not at the usual standard I have for Omni’s.
The Lobby is the nicest place in the hotel. They called me a day prior to check in to let me know that the room we booked is not available due to construction. I’m sure they knew about the construction way before, but waited last minute to let me know which makes it hard for us to find another accommodation. They offered to move us to a suite, which I thought would be an upgrade… NOT. The suite was old, outdated and dirty. Also, no microwave which is a basic need for hotel rooms. The televisions were so dark and settings aren’t available to adjust brightness. Our pullout bed was disgusting it had stains on the couch and on the bed. They clearly didn’t change the sheets before putting us there because there were hairs and dirt on it. The robes also smelled like my grandpa. Not exaggerating. I should have read reviews prior to booking but I feel like I was catfish from the hotel website. Overall, It’s worth 1 star but i gave it a 2 because the lobby was decent and the location was good, however, will never book here again.
This review is a bit late due to some personal matters, but I didn’t want to miss the chance to thank the entire hotel team for making our Mardi Gras trip—celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and our birthdays—so special. The hotel is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. From the moment we arrived early, the front desk staff set the tone with their professionalism and kindness. The bell staff was outstanding throughout our stay, including helping us with a very early morning departure. We enjoyed the bar, and the restaurant downstairs was truly excellent. Everyone treated us like family and made every moment positive and memorable. The location is perfect for anything you want to do in the city. My sincere thanks to the whole team and management. You uphold a very high standard, and it shows. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
When we arrived in New Orleans, it was before check-in, and we were told we would receive a text message when our room was ready. That seemed perfectly reasonable, and we spent the afternoon in the French Quarter. Unfortunately, no text was ever sent, and we later had to return to the hotel ourselves to ask about the room, only to be told it had already been ready. When we entered the room, it was extremely hot. Although the thermostat was set to 67 degrees, it was clear that it was not functioning properly. Since we were only stopping in briefly before dinner, we reported the issue to the front desk on our way out. The representative told us this was a common problem and assured us it would be fixed before we returned that evening. After a very enjoyable night in the French Quarter, we came back to the hotel around midnight expecting the issue to have been resolved. Instead, the room was still uncomfortably hot, and the thermostat had clearly not been addressed. At that point, after a full day of travel and activities, we were exhausted. Having already reported the problem once and received no follow-through, we decided not to spend more time dealing with the front desk again at midnight. As a result, we endured one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever had in any hotel. What is most frustrating is not just the room issue itself, but the complete lack of follow-through after we reported it and were assured it would be handled. The accommodations and level of service we experienced at the Omni Royal Orleans were far below what we would expect from any hotel, let alone one marketed as a premium property. You can put all the marble you like in the atrium of this hotel, and will never make up for the poor accommodations and total lack of service.
Not impressed. Stayed here for a work conference (no choice of other hotels). For the price, this place should be a lot nicer. The place is obviously run down with just quick fixes meant to cover up the issues. Staff was rude and acted like they were mad I existed. WiFi did not work. Housekeeping failed to provide a bath mat, washcloths, etc. Ended up with five bottles of shampoo and no body wash. A/C in the rooms is bad and doesn’t go lower than 68. All of the amenities (including that fabulous rooftop deck that everyone mentions) are closed through the end of 2026. Construction all day everyday, cuts hot water off. The location of this hotel is its only redeeming quality. The lobby is pretty too.
We hosted our corporate meeting at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel, and the entire experience was fantastic from beginning to end. Everyone we encountered—from the service staff to the doormen and bell staff—were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and responsive to our needs. The level of hospitality truly made a difference for our team. The guest rooms were clean and comfortable, and the Grand Salon Ballroom was the perfect space for our event—elegant, spacious, and well-suited for a professional gathering. A very special thank?you to Nicole Erikson and Sherie Bodenheimer for helping us coordinate all the details. Their organization and support ensured that everything ran smoothly. Our Banquet Captain, Milton Rivers, deserves special recognition—he was there with me every morning, checking in, assisting with every detail, and making sure our event went off without a hitch. His professionalism and attentiveness were outstanding. We also want to recognize Christopher Beach with Pinnacle Live for his excellent technical support. He handled our AV setup with precision, ensuring our presentations, lighting, and sound were flawless throughout. We highly recommend the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel for corporate events, large gatherings, or even a short stay in New Orleans. The staff, service, and venue quality are truly exceptional.
We had a wonderful stay at the Omni! The location can’t be beat. The staff were friendly and attentive. They surprised us with champagne for my husband’s birthday. Highly recommend for anyone visiting that wants to be able to walk to the Quarter, Bourbon St., Canal, etc.
