The Place d’Armes Hotel is a historic property located in the heart of the French Quarter, offering a convenient base for exploring New Orleans. While many guests appreciate its charming courtyards, friendly staff, and prime location, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in room cleanliness and potential noise issues, particularly in lower-level rooms.
The location is absolutely perfect. However, my stay was a few days after mardi gras, and the room was unfortunately not that clean. There was hair and glitter on the sheets the night I arrived. There was makeup on the bathroom doors. There were bobby pins on the floor (and glitter). The overall state of the room did impact my stay greatly, which was unfortunate seeing as I chose the hotel based off the reviews. Maybe I came on a bad week, but the room never seemed to be getting fully clean for the days I was there. However, the courtyard is beautiful; there’s lots of historic charm. Front desk staff was helpful!
We've stayed at the Place d'Armes a few times and enjoyed our stay each time. Most recently we stayed the weekend before Mardi Gras 2026. The reception staff were lovely and Andrew, the bellman, went above and beyond to make sure we and our luggage made it through the blockades that the National Guard had set up so that we could make our flights. We really enjoy spending time in the courtyard, it's a peaceful oasis from the chaos of the Quarter.
My wife and I stayed here on a long weekend and it was incredible. The location made the entire trip amazing. Everything you need is within walking distance, and it was a great home base. The property was absolutely beautiful and the room was clean and comfortable. The layout was a bit quirky, but we felt it added to the experience! The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, we even got to know them by name. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to this amazing city.
My boyfriend and I stayed over Christmas 2025. We had an awesome time! Our room was perfect and the location was out of sight. We loved being able to walk everywhere. Room service was diligent and attempted to service the room each day although we had our do not disturb up. I have to call out the Hospitality front desk person Rody, she was fantastic. We loved her personality and she really made us feel welcome and at home at the hotel. Rody is actually the reason I am writing this review weeks later, we still talk about her and the hotel. We will definitely stay there again next trip to NOLA.
Edit: we had credit cards in my wife’s wallet that were left in the safe when we left. We called and the staff removed the wallet and shipped it to us. A couple weeks later 2 of our credit cards were being used in New Orleans. The cards were not used by us anywhere during our trip and stayed in the safe the entire time. So there is no way they could have been “compromised”. Although the physical cards were returned, the info was taken and 2 different cards were used after we had returned home. Loved our stay but will not return. Owner stated that cards were always in secure hands, but that is not the case. We stayed here for 5 nights. King bed balcony room. Beautiful quiet hotel. Clean room and gorgeous courtyards. And the staff was fantastic! Great location. 1/2 block to Jackson square. 2 blocks to Bourbon St. Easy access to all things French Quarter. Felt welcome and safe for the entire stay.
The Place d’Armes is Fantastic! We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff was so friendly (in particular, shout out to Andrew!), the courtyards are absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful, our interior windowless room was perfect - a nice way to save a little money if you didn’t want a balcony and a bonus of keeping out any outside noise. The location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere. We couldn’t have asked or thought of a better place to stay. So unique and tailored to the NOLA culture. Very highly recommend!!
Our stay here was perfect, we finally found our go-to NOLA hotel! The location is fantastic and the property is so beautiful. The courtyard was my favorite. Every single staff member was so kind. Patrice was the best! She was so sweet every time we saw her, and she welcomed us with an anniversary song and bubble gun! Andrew was also so kind and always remembered us when we would walk in and out. We had a king balcony room, from which we could see the river. I loved everything about this hotel and can’t wait to go back!
Place d’Armes Hotel has been my family’s favorite vacation spot in New Orleans for over 20 years. The location is great….right next to the Saint Louis Cathedral…..and the service has always been good. Is everything perfect with the rooms? No, but in fairness, it is not marketed as a shiny new modern hotel. It is old and therefore it has that old world charm, so if you want modern, well it’s not going to be your cup of tea. Of course, since it is in the French Quarter it has a great courtyard with a nice pool area. We absolutely love this place.
Stewart was great. No microwave in room. One available downstairs along with complimentary coffee. Great outdoor atmosphere. The A/C was louder than I would have like. Walking distance to everything. Staff were nice. About $48 dollars to park a night, which is basically everywhere in New Orleans. We were on the other side of the stairwell which was quite noisy. Room was clean.
I definitely recommend this hotel! The location is convenient. The room is clean and lovely. The courtyard and pool are cosy and cute. The hotel itself has a historic feel, but the shower and other facilities seemed newly renovated and convenient. Our room didn't have a window, so it was quiet at night. Perhaps the hotel is located a little far from the noisy area, so the other rooms were probably quiet as well at night. The walls are a little thin and I heard people talking, but it was acceptable. The best thing about this hotel is the staff! The lady at the afternoon reception (I think it was Rody) is kind and lovely, and when we told her we were Japanese, she even learned a few words of Japanese for us, which really warmed my heart. The man who showed us around the hotel was also friendly, funny and kind. The bellboy in the afternoon is very cheerful and friendly. The bellboy who called our taxi at check-out is very professional and polite, which I really appreciated. All the staff members spoke kindly to us every time we returned to the hotel. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to share the wonderful staff with future guests and the hotel owner. You guys made our stay in New Orleans special ??
