Roami at Motorworks receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its location and spacious rooms, while others highlight significant operational issues and a lack of consistent maintenance. Recurring complaints involve malfunctioning appliances, cleanliness concerns, and unresponsive customer service, particularly during peak travel times. Recent reviews indicate a decline in overall experience and a need for improvement.
The room was below my expectations. Charged as much or more than one of the chain hotels, with way less to offer. The location was good. Everything else was very disappointing as far as the rooms concern. I would not recommend. I realize the location is historical, however basic maintenance of the property not good
A really nice stay. My biggest grip was all the stuff on the patio was basically useless. The jacuzzi was empty and growing stuff in it and most of the patio furniture was cloth that was falling apart and soaked in water. The rest of the place was great though if you don't care about hanging out on the patio.
I would not stay here again. I requested an early check in (2pm vs 4pm) as we were arriving with elderly Seniors. I was toId I could get free early check in if I completed and texted proof of a Google review, even though I had not arrived and never stayed there. I completed the review (since deleted), shared screenshot only to be told they could not accommodate. None of the bedroom tvs had remotes. Blinds in all of the rooms were in horrible shape, and the cleanliness standard was not very high. The location is noisy and you hear EVERYTHING through what has to be single pane windows. The young lady at the front entrance desk struggled to answer simple questions (language barrier). There is convenient parking in a garage across the street that was well secured. We did initially have an issue with the smart locks, the young man on site responded quickly and it was resolved.

DO NOT STAY HERE — THEY ARE SCAMMING! It was 1:00 AM, and I had still not received any response regarding the ongoing ant infestation in this unit. The conditions are completely unsanitary and uninhabitable, forcing me to relocate at my own expense. Additionally, the washing machine issue was never addressed, causing further inconvenience and financial loss since I could not wash my infested clothing or complete prior obligations. There was no housekeeping provided, and I only received one set of towels for the entire stay. I made multiple attempts to contact your team throughout the day with no response. This lack of communication and failure to resolve serious maintenance and sanitation issues constitutes a breach of the rental agreement. I am demanding an immediate resolution, including a full refund and reimbursement for all related expenses. To make matters worse, four days after I checked out, the host attempted to charge me $750 for an alleged “smell of marijuana.” This is completely false and defamatory — I am a Christian woman who does not smoke or use any drugs. I feel deeply disrespected and unfairly targeted, and it appears I’m being racially profiled.
The code didn't work to get in the building. Someone was there leaving and gave us a code that did work. Our room code did work thankfully. The next day the code to the building was changed and became the same code to our room. I'm assuming that's what it should have been all along so they know who is accessing the building. Online it looked sparse but all we needed. We took a camp chair for extra seating but it turned out to be the most comfortable seat in the place. The beds were obviously platform beds in the pictures but hard to tell they were only a foot off the ground. Still comfortable But very short for tall people. Hard to get up if you have medical issues or are larger sized. Also beds have slats that move. Had problems with one bed the whole time, the slats kept moving and one was broke. Host was not able to get maintenance to fix it satisfactorily and we complained every day. All they did was put it back in place, never replaced it. Had to turn around and sleep at end of the bed the last 2 nights. The door to the main bedroom didn't shut good, the hinge at the top was almost broke and the door dragged the ground. Host was unable to get maintenance to fix it or even touch it. Hallway toilet was broke from day one! Handle didn't work and the chain broke. They did fix the chain the second day. But the handle had to be replaced and we had to take the back off and flush manually using the chain. Maint came every day and never fully fixed it. Bedrooms' spaces very are cramped. Barely enough room to move around. After a ton of walking every day, you expect to be able to sit comfortably but there wasn't anywhere to do that. The couch is a pull out and every part of it is uncomfortable. It says no smoking, but there was a lot of times we smelled smokers AND Weed. Very strong, the smell filled our rooms several times and nothing we could do about it. Parking is not far and easy walk, $20 a day. but there was parking on the street that was free because a giant off road vehicle sat there all week. Trolley/streetcar is a close walk, so is WW2 museum. That's the best thing I can say about this place. I noticed after my review on vrbo, the listing is removed. Even the link on google maps doesn't work on vrbo. This is the last vrbo or airbnb for us for a while. I need to know if there are problems, I can at least get another room if they can't fix something. Do yourself a favor and go to a hotel.
Edit: Ended up canceling the reservation after waiting an hour and finding somewhere else to stay. Obviously can’t rate the rooms, but I would recommend steering clear based solely on the customer service and other reviews. Currently sitting on hold for 20 minutes. We were supposed to check in at 4. Was told a code would be coming. It hasn’t. And no one is answering. We can’t get into the building we paid to stay in and instead are standing outside in the heat. This is absurd.
Only there for one night, but the space was clean, very spacious, and well appointed. Located near the Amtrak Train station that we needed to get to the next morning, so the location was perfect for us.
This place is easily 5 star potential but apparently they have known issues with appliances. The fridge in our room did not work. We called several times and were told someone would come and fix it. Someone did come but it wasn’t fixed. This resulted in us having to spend tons of money on food eating out ice and a cooler. It would not have been that big of a deal but other guests said that they had issues with things (appliances mainly) not working. They said they called and no one came to fix anything. After reading reviews on Google it appears that this is a common complaint which Leads me to believe that the company is aware of this and not addressing the issue. This is not a regular hotel and there is zero staff on the premises. If your fridge doesn’t work then that means you will have to eat all meals out. There was no ice machine either so we found ourselves at the gas station across the street several times a day just so we could get iced beverages. If your washer and dryer don’t work and you have a long stay then that’s a problem as well bc they don’t replenish towels or wash cloths nor do they restock the community section down stairs as stated on the sign and check in instructions. This place has great potential but unfortunately they don’t fix things.
If you don’t like reading long reviews…in short, I DO NOT recommend staying at this location. My experience with Roami Motors New Orleans was frustrating and disappointing from the start of checking in…Upon arriving in town, I called to see if we could check in early. The customer service rep, Grace, told me it was against their policy. However, shortly after getting off the phone, I received a link showing early check-in was available for an additional fee but unfortunately, by that time, it was past the cutoff to request it. My family and I, which included two elders & an infant, killed time at the mall and grocery store. While at the mall, I received a call saying our check-in time would be pushed back with no ETA provided, which is completely unacceptable. After back-and-forth phone calls with different reps, they promised a manager would call us either that day (7/4/25) or the next (7/5/25) that never happened. I was told they would refund the cleaning fee, but as of now, I’m still waiting to see if that happens. (this did not happen either as of 8/3/25) After about the fourth phone call, another agent offered to put us in a temporary room while ours was being cleaned, but warned that access to that room would lock at 7 PM. We reluctantly agreed, but still had no confirmed ETA for our actual room. By 6 PM, no call or update as promised. I texted again for an ETA via text but no response. My husband and I finally went to the 2nd floor to see for ourselves, and found a cleaner leaving our room at 6:30 PM keep in mind, our original check-in was scheduled for 4 PM. Conveniently, 5 minutes after we spoke to the cleaner, we received a text saying our room was ready. No prior ETA as promised just more delays and poor communication. The room itself appeared clean at first glance, but had gnats, flies, and a moth flying around not exactly welcoming. This was my first and last time booking with Roami. The disorganization, lack of communication, false information, and the inconvenience of having elders and an infant in the New Orleans heat waiting around is unacceptable. They offered us late check out but we declined as we didn’t need late check out. If you value your time, peace of mind, and basic customer service, I do not recommend this property.
