Guest experiences at Roami At The Lola vary drastically, oscillating between five-star stays in well-equipped, clean rooms and severe hygiene crises involving bed bugs, mold, and oppressive odors. The building generally has poor ventilation, unreliable A/C, and a distinct lack of on-site staff or security, making it unsuitable for those seeking traditional hospitality.
We were 8 ppl staying in a unit and we were two towels short from everyone having their own towel. They wouldn’t give us two extra and just said we can do our own laundry. The location was the only good thing about this place.
On first appearance this place is great. However, walking around in our room made our socks look like we walked outside in them. The floors are terribly dirty inside the rooms. Like we all had "jiffy" feet. The beds were comfortable. The pillows and sheets were clean. The staff was friendly.
Zero staff for most of our stay. Four different door codes. Unclear check in policies that they sprung last minute. Creepy and empty lobby with most amenities completely empty/unable to be used. The rooms had ZERO ventilation and we're incredibly musty and gross. No fans or air movement. Rug was filthy/uncleaned. "Coffee table" was extremely cheap. Bedding was polyester and gross. Half the pillows were paper. Towels were tiny and rough. Rooftop doesn't offer views, the area is surrounded by fence with fake vegetation on it. Company was EXTREMELY slow to respond, and had to be called/wait on hold to even do bare minimum checkin tasks. Luggage room was left entirely unattended with the code to enter left in plain site. That is not safe or secure, especially when there was no staff, and the company wasn't answering messages. There are plenty of hotels nearby. That would have been a better and cheaper experience.
As a female traveling alone the security of this place is horrible. After my first day (and getting locked outside at 2am) the front door code never worked. They then had the front door propped open the rest of my stay because it seems other people were having the same issue. When there is staff in the building they are rude and don’t acknowledge that this is an issue. Also, one time I was in the shower and someone else was able to get into my room, not sure how as I thought the codes were personalized but it was a very scary experience. Would not recommend.
Zero out of 5. DO NOT STAY HERE. Arrived at 430. Code given to me to get into building, was not correct. Finally got into the building. Hot & Humid entry area. Smelled of mold and mildew. Got to room and code did not work. Called number and was given a new code over the phone. Once inside the room, left my suitcase by the door and started checking the room over. Smelled funky. Started checking beds and found bugs, alive and crawling across the sheets. Sheets also stained and unclean. I called and over the next 3 hours did my due diligence and visited 5 rooms in total, many phone calls, and even met with the maintenance guy in a hotel room, all by myself (super unsafe and I still cringe that someone would ask that of a person traveling alone). All five rooms had similar issues. One room had all the cabinets open, which shows they know of an infestation and recently fumigated. I did not stay here and have been asking for a refund which is close to $1500. They told me the bugs were normal. I put the pics I had of the bugs into ChatGPT and other AI -- all have said it was a bed bug. No comments on the dirty sheets and would only refund $200. Customer Service has been lacking. I have never been told this is normal conditions. No hotel I have EVER stayed in was this unsanitary.
The first room was hideous. The master bedroom bed needed to be cleaned and the bathroom was dirty. They moved us to another room where the master bedroom bed was broken and on our last night a young man fixed it with boards. The place has potentials. It just need to invest some money in upgrading the beds. They are cute but not strong enough for any weight and the mattresses are too soft. I felt like I was restricted to one spot in the bed.
Abysmal experience. We booked a 3 bedroom suite with Roami through their own website (no third parties). First, we ran into difficulties trying to get checked in on the phone but were eventually able to get a room code, only to go up to our room and the code not work. What appeared to be one of the very few on-site staff members helped us get into the room; however, the staff member (and all of us) immediately realized the A/C needed to be serviced, as the room was 85 degrees. From what the staff member said, this was a known issue and the room should not have even been available for booking at all. We then spent several hours trying to get any resolution from Roami. Notably, their reception area was also poorly air conditioned and quite hot. Ultimately, they weren’t able to provide an alternative room at any of their nearby locations and they offered no assistance in finding alternative accommodations. They then attempted to get us to accept a “voucher” for the nearly $900 dollar expense, and when we refused, they told us they would “review our case” to determine if we could get a refund, which we did eventually get. Incredibly disappointed overall and absolutely will be *vehemently* recommending against staying with Roami in the future.
Super comfy apt for our girls trip! Kitchen was well stocked to cook, beds were super comfy and the living room had great natural light. Clean and well maintained. The WiFi was strong to work from the apt or in the lobby which is set up like a co-work. Very close to the convention center 25 min walk to the French quarter.
Wasn’t terrible wasn’t remarkable Stayed in the 3 bedroom suite on the first floor The only bug I saw was a spider which was not an issue. The beds were super comfy, however one bedroom’s headboard had a huge makeup stain. Kitchen was legit. There is 0 staff present, and I never was up early enough to see if the supply self actually have anything on it.
I wouldn't advise anyone to stay at this place. The lobby looks unfinished there's no one at the front desk EVER. When you initially walk into the room the first thought is "ok this is nice" but then there's multiple maintenance issues that go on and it takes forever to get someone on the phone to help. The bed literally broke (not because of my weight) ! And it took forever to get fixed. I had to sleep on a broken bed for a whole night. The shower pressure is horrible I think the sink would of been better. There are no ice machines or vending machines available. Customer service is almost impossible. The key code at the front door didn't work sometimes. The elevators were always hot and smelled like a dumpster. The only good thing was the location. If this is your choice find somewhere else to stay.!!!
