This Canal Street property offers stylish, spacious suites with a convenient downtown location, though recent reviews highlight inconsistent management and maintenance issues.
We stayed here a few weeks ago when NOLA got some snow and it was freezing out, lucky us! The check in process was fairly easy. Everything is done through their app. It's a little off putting that they want to charge us to check in just half an hour early despite the room being available hours ago. There's no front desk so they can't hold your luggage if you arrive early but you can pay to use a locker. The Jung hotel in the same building was nice enough to hold our luggage for use before we could check in. The apartment was very spacious and mostly clean. A lot of the furniture looks pretty nice in their listing but are really aged in reality. If you sit on the couch, you would sink into it because there is no support. Some of the love seats had questionable stains on them. There was a walk in closet in the bedroom and one of the walls was destroyed and patch up with a sheet of plywood much too small. The water pressure in the shower was good but the hot water was lacking. It got barely warm on most days. The heat was also not working well and it was unusually cold in NOLA. It worked ok on the first day and didn't turn on the rest of the stay. We wore wearing our jackets most of the time. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a kitchen to prepare breakfast in the mornings. The vending machine also overcharged us when we tired to get some late night stacks. The guy was small but adequate and we didn't get to try the outdoor pool because it was filled with snow. The location is great, you are on Canal street and only a short walk from the action. There's a some to like but there's many things that can be improved.
We checked into the Sonder, room reserved for 3 people. There was 2 towels. Requested more via the app because NO ONE actually works there. They responded it’d be 12 hours before I receive the towels. The shutters in the room are broken so there’s no privacy. The walls are so thin you can hear everything from people running down the hallway to conversations in the room next to us. There’s no actual restaurant on site, there’s a bar you can order food at but they shut down conveniently twice while we were there due to being out of food. The coffee shop inside takes forever. If you are looking to stay there for a restful time, search elsewhere. By the time you type in codes to use the only two elevators designated for the sonder side, and waiting for the elevators because there isn’t enough for the amount of people staying there, you’ll be exhausted. Don’t go up to the pool alone because you have to get off on one level and use the service elevator in an eerily creepy hallway to get up to the 12x8 oversized bath tub of a pool. I would have rather and will next time, pay double to stay in a better area that has more options. Also, your next door to a hospital so expect to hear sirens all night and day.
I had an amazing experience staying at Sonder in New Orleans! From the moment I arrived, everything was perfect. The space was clean, stylish, and incredibly comfortable – it felt like a home away from home. The amenities were top-notch, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches like the fully equipped kitchen and high-quality linens. The location was ideal, not to far of a walk to all the action, with easy access to all the best restaurants, bars, and attractions New Orleans has to offer. The check-in process was ok, had to wait until 4pm to check-in however I still felt well taken care of throughout my stay.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at 1500 Canal in the Central Business District, New Orleans, and it exceeded every expectation. The 2-bedroom suite was beautifully designed with a clean, modern aesthetic and thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. The deep green accent wall in the bedroom added a sophisticated vibe, while the large windows filled the space with natural light and offered a stunning view of the city. The location could not have been better. Whether you are there for business or to soak up the vibrant culture, you are perfectly positioned to explore everything the city has to offer. What really stood out, though, was the comfort and attention to detail. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the amenities were top-notch. It is clear that Sonder prioritizes both style and functionality. Everything, from check-in to checkout, was seamless. I can confidently say this was one of the most luxurious and convenient stays I have had in a while. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans. ??????????
This is a great option for groups, and especially great for ours so that our friend didn’t have to get/pay for a separate hotel room for herself. The common area was spacious for us all. The bedrooms and closets were also spacious. It was nice having a laundry unit, and they provide laundry detergent. While we would have liked to have been closer to the French Quarter, this ended up being a better choice away from the crowds but still close to everything. Also, we never had a problem finding parking for our rental car. It was free overnight on the street and we just took note of the parking code to pay it via app at 8am every morning except Sunday. We would stay again and highly recommend! Side note: One elevator was out a few days. I’m not docking stars for this because it happens. They responded right away, and while it took a while to be fixed (it was the holiday week), we had no long waits.
