The Fairfield Inn By Marriott New Orleans Metairie receives mixed guest reviews, with significant concerns regarding staff responsiveness, pool availability, and basic amenities. While some guests praise the cleanliness and location, recurring issues with service, operational problems, and billing practices consistently detract from the overall experience. Recent reviews highlight staff behavior, room conditions, and a lack of promised services such as late checkout and Wi-Fi.
So upon my arrival, the front desk told me after I checked in that the pool was not working, so I asked why not because that was the meaning of my booking today. I wanted to enjoy the pool and that’s the reason why I booked this hotel and she just stated the door wasn’t working so she also told me where it was located Once I passed by, I checked the door open both doors in and out, so I walked back up to the front desk and I stated that I do not want to make a review, but I am unsatisfied with me not able to swim. I came from Florida and I wanted to enjoy my day off in the pool and she stated well it’s closed not today. Maybe tomorrow it could be I don’t know it could be chemicals and I said and I asked well you said the doors wasn’t working they are working and she just repeated and look like she got upset and just brushed me off and said well they’re closed today. I walk in my room. The bed is halfway made his fingerprint on the table. I love the Marriott it is one of my favorite places to stay. I don’t feel like the front desk was trying to even accommodate me or evaluate my complaint. Hopefully, the pool will be open tomorrow or I’ll be leaving this place
Front Desk Customer Service is very unprofessional. Im currently at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New Orleans Metairie (2710 Severn Avenue, Metairie, LA, 70002 and the front desk customer service agent is the rudest person I have ever encountered. She doesn't care about the guests and would rather talk on her cell phone during her working hours and hold a conversation with a presumed guest and ignore and lie about the request that my daughter made for additional towels. When I asked her for her name she refused and attempted to question me about the question I asked her about lying to my daughter. I will never stay at another Marriott property ever again!!!
Pretty standard Fairfield. Really comfy beds and good housekeeping. Enjoyed our stay, but asked for a 4 pm late checkout (this is a guaranteed benefit for platinum elite members) and was told no, that it was by not guaranteed and by availability. Ruined our plans for the afternoon. I called Marriott later, who verified that yes, it was guaranteed and not by availability, and they filled a complaint against the hotel. Seems like staff should know basic member rewards, or at least make an effort to look into it.
So my wife and kids stay there for a volleyball tournament. Very next day they took showers but on the second shower, drain starts to flood. Sink is backed up and the room floods. Definitely grossed them out as no telling what backed up all the plumbing. Went to front desk and at first it was if there’s nothing they could do. Finally they change their rooms out. Wife asks could they comp the room. Nope. But they can give us a lot of points. So my wife gives my Marriott rewards info, not sure why my wife booked anything without asking me first if I hade rewards but all good. They said they’ll add the points. Well that was 3 days ago so I guess Yerlin Castro (manager) lied. Definitely won’t go back. Definitely do not recommend.
We spent almost two weeks at this hotel after buying a house and finding out it was unlivable. The hotel is extremely clean. I watched people clean day after day. There was always hot water, coffee and ice water available in the lobby. They also had bottles of water for the guests at the front desk. The employees were all very kind but Letricia at the front desk was outstanding!! She really helped me when we realized we had to extend our stay. Another employee that was awesome was John who I believe was in maintenance. He was happy to help and had a smile on his face. I really appreciated the kindness, the cleanliness, the cleaning of our room every other day with restocking of towels and removing used towels and trash. At the end of the day being at our house, it was so nice to go to the hotel where everything was lovely ?? And a huge thank you to Letricia and John!!!
“Clean Stay?, Bad Airflow, and No Gluten free Muffins in Sight” Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott – Metairie, LA At first glance, the hotel looks decent — but that fades quick. No gluten-free options, no Udi’s muffins or bagels, none of the usual Marriott breakfast favorites. The “fresh fruit” from the photos? False advertising — not a single piece. The air vent in the bathroom didn’t even work, so when someone used it, the smell drifted straight into the room. On top of that, there was mold or mildew around the vent by the bed near the closet. Some lights didn’t work, mildew around the tub, a broken stopper, cheap plastic lamps, a busted alarm knob, and hair on the “clean” towels. The key card failed twice, the engineer had to be called, and the luggage cart wheels were so flat it felt like football practice pushing it. And the staff? Watched us like hawks — checking what we brought in and took out, even staring from the parking lot. Overall: worn-down, poor airflow, mold by the vents, no gluten-free options, and no real hospitality. Marriott really needs to do better here.
This hotel stay was the least accommodating hotel I’ve ever stayed at!! TVs don’t work and nobody is there to fix them day or night. The parking lot was a complete disaster and several times had to park really far from the hotel because they booked hotels for the whole hotel but only had about 7 parking spots that wasn’t closed off. If you can’t accommodate for a full occupancy then you need to block off rooms!! I’ve tried contacting management and can’t even get a reply. I’m not going away, I will single handedly tank this 4.2?? if nobody contacts me to make this right. Horrible staff day and night they didn’t offer any sort of solution. They tell you they’ll send maintenance but over 4 nights NOBODY came!!! Will never stay here again, never even tried to clean our room or leave towels or anything!! So many issues here and no resolution after the stay. By FAR the worst hotel stay I have ever had!!!!
It’s a beautiful hotel and very nice area outside of New Orleans. There weren’t a lot of vegan options for breakfast. The day I checked in the black female employee was rude and unprofessional to me.
Comfy beds, clean rooms. Elevators were broken for the days I was there and it seemed like the AC on the first floor lobby was broken too. This made breakfast uncomfortable due to it being so hot. If it wasn't for those two things, I would have given 5 stars. Safe location, good food options, 12 minute drive from airport
Firstly, I want to state that this Fairfield is in a safe and convenient location for shopping, dining, etc. and is not particularly far from tourist areas in downtown New Orleans. Having stated that, my husband and I had an absolutely irritating experience at the hotel. The cable TV set-up at the hotel was out of commission. This really wasn't much of a show-stopper, but we were lied to and told that the problem should be fixed soon after we checked in. The hotel lied! We never observed any workers at the hotel, and when I asked if we could be moved to a room where the TV actually functioned, we were told very sarcastically by a smart-aleck and rude desk manager, "Don't even ask. It ain't goin' to happen." We were also billed for parking and we did not have our car on the premises. This was just assumed. Our car was parked in a parking garage at a family member's apartment across the street. I did not argue this because we were told nothing about it until I noticed the charge on my Marriott Visa bill. Finally, we were supposed to receive an evaluation questionnaire as well as a final invoice after we checked out. We received neither. I really wanted to submit this review on the Bonvoy web site, but I could not because we received no review link. My husband and I stay exclusively in Marriott properties whenever they are available, however we will never again stay at this hotel, and would recommend anyone to avoid people who are incompetent, lie, are evidently inefficient, and rude.
