The Celestine offers a unique and historic experience in the French Quarter, blending a charming atmosphere with a convenient location. While praised for its staff, particularly Ian, and courtyard ambiance, recent reviews highlight significant issues with room quality, cleanliness, and maintenance, including functional problems and undesirable noises.

This is a tough one I wanted to like it but it is not worth the price. We were scheduled to stay 6 nights we left after two. We chose a room with a balcony 6 months prior. The photos are not what we got. We had no windows in our room. It is literally across from the dungeon which is very loud at night, even the ear plugs they give wouldn’t help. The rooms are also above a vape shop so it smells like smoke and pot all day The courtyard is lovely but we couldn’t use it at all because it was raining, not hotels fault but there is literally no where to be except your room to sit then. No lobby etc No help with luggage and it’s all upstairs very steep stairs so no fun. It could be great place to visit the bar but that’s about it

We just spent 3 days in Nola visiting our daughter and soaking up all the city has to offer! We chose The Celestine for something different as we’d tried out all sorts of other places over the years. The rooms were lovely, but the bar, the building and all that history about Tennessee Williams were a big bonus! And I have only great things to say about the staff who made our trip exceed expectations and made it, truly, one of the best travel experiences we’ve had in a while. Iakia was very friendly and professional welcoming and checking us in, offering us ice and coffee. When we got to our room and unpacked, we couldn’t turn the heat on. Turns out the radiator wasn’t working and Iakia and Alex tried to fix it but it was broken. Then they were incredibly gracious going out of the way to make up for the inconvenience - upgrading is to a spacious suite with living room and view of the fountain in the courtyard. Plus they gave us FOUR complimentary drink tickets! We were thrilled! When we got to the bar, we discovered that Alex was one of the main bartenders. Turns out, Alex Anderson is a celebrated bartender who has been perfecting drink recipes in some of the best Nola hangouts for 20 years! We had a fascinating convo about how she arrived at bartending and became a liquor aficionado well known in the FQ! The drinks she recommended were fabulous, and even came with some of the history of chartreuse, rum and vodka. Check out the Celestine bar and stay at the hotel so that you only need to go downstairs to enjoy your drinks and meet Alex! You, too, will enjoy Nola all the more!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Celestine. The staff were friendly, we loved the atmosphere, the room was gorgeous, the complimentary coffee in the morning was great, and it was overall an amazing experience and we think the best hotel we've stayed in. We stayed in a courtyard room and the noise from bourbon street didn't bother us. It was a great location too and so easy to get everywhere

My wife and I stayed at the Celestine for our elopement. Everything was fantastic from the central location to the amazing staff to the to the comfy-cozy room. A huge shout-out to Johnny the GM amd Alex the bar manager who took our stay from fabulous to magical; letting us have our ceremony in the Celestine 's intimate courtyard and were also so gracious to sign as our witnesses! Along with Gentry and Zari to round out the outstanding staff roster, our stay was like the New Orleans version of the Grand Budapest Hotel in all the best ways. We will be back!

Photo says it all. Only 1 star for location. Rest was abysmal. For the price this was maybe the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms were in complete disrepair. The lights next to the bathroom are a legitimate fire hazard. They were held up by a nail and picture hangar so barely hanging. The bathroom door opened right into one, so when you open the door you knock it off the wall exposing live electric. Borderline criminal and someone may get hurt one day. The shelf in the bathroom was so loose that when we placed our toiletries on it they slipped off and crashed in the sink. Several power outlets were loose including one with a light in it, and when we tried to plug in another device, the slightest touch made the power come in and out with the faceplate barely covering the hole. Another fire hazard. The switch in the bathroom didn’t even work which means we couldn’t use a hairdryer or anything else in there. The walls had stains and big holes in the Sheetrock. I guess that might be shabby chic but to us it just screamed “in need of maintenance” The service was essentially non-existent. The people were nice enough but generally invisible. Never greeted us in passing or offered any real hospitality. Cherry on top was the water bottles that were on the end table right next to the entrance that were sitting there with no signage or indicator they were not complementary. There is a mini-bar in a totally separate part of the room. So not only was no free water provided, but we were charged for these waters when there was no indication and it’s reasonable to expect that the for-fee items would be with th rest of the mini bar items (or it least provide a price next to the bottles) The bar was nice. Location was great. Only real positive. Other than that, this feels like someone put a bit of stick up wall paper on on old hotel, got a good review from their friend at Travel & Leisure, and otherwise had never done or intends to do any maintenance.

If you wanna stay right in the French quarter, and I certainly don’t recommend this for everybody, this is a sweet oasis. Charming, clean, quiet-ish with earplugs with bourbon street above away and a lively bar downstairs. We love the bar Peychauds downstairs. Serious cocktails and great bartender and ambiance. The courtyard is lovely. We even took advantage of the sister hotel in the garden district, the Chloe, and use their pool one afternoon. I don’t know if I would stay in the French Quarter again, but if I did, I would certainly choose the Celestine.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Celestine! My partner and I brought my parents from FL to New Orleans for my dad’s birthday, and it was the perfect blend of French Quarter energy and peaceful retreat. The staff were all warm and welcoming, and the bartenders fantastic—especially the one working Sunday afternoon, who mixed a delicious happy hour punch and shared both the hotel’s history and great recommendations for our last day. Her love for her hometown was contagious, and it’s those types of genuine interactions that made the trip unforgettable for my dad. The rooms were gorgeous, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was pure bliss. I especially loved starting each morning with a latte from the on-site coffee bar and the sound of jazz drifting in from the courtyard. I was looking for a place that went beyond a standard hotel and felt truly unique to the city's character, and Celestine is it. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base for such a special celebration.

I’m sorry to say that this was an incredibly disappointing experience first of all days no service there is nobody to carry a luggage so you have to carry your luggage yourself upstairs. The rooms are very dingy. The windows are not insulated. The air goes through it and they’re very noisy, which is probably why the hotel gives you earplugs in order to allow you to sleep. The bathroom is very strange. There is a toilet with the shower and then there’s a little side in the room Which is very unpleasant. There is no closet to decor of the room is bad. The bed isn’t very comfortable and the air conditioning isn’t working properly on the hall. We stayed in room number 10 and it was not like the pictures. Inter Look like they were secluded on pictures, but everything was open next to each other in front of each other with all the other furniture, including the bed in the bathtub I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances we were supposed to say three days and we stayed one and a half hours and we come quickly and move to another hotel. Thank you.

I didn’t stay here but discovered Celestine hotel while wandering around the French Quarter. If you’re looking for a different hotel from the Astor Crown and the JW Marriott this place is it. Has a charming courtyard with a gate that connects to the Court of Two sisters which is a brunch place right next-door. I love the inner courtyard because it’s full of plants and fountains and just different from the usual tourist hustle bustle of Bourbon Street. Some construction could be heard going on but overall a good experience

The Celestine is now our favorite hotel in New Orleans. The location was perfect, and Ian was our go-to for everything! Ian made our trip extra special, and we were already rebooking and planning our next stay before we left. Ian was friendly, knowledgeable, quick to provide recommendations, and a pleasure to talk with. We went with another couple, and we had a balcony overlooking the courtyard, and our friend's balcony overlooked the street. We enjoyed having drinks on the balcony and people-watching when we needed downtime. The courtyard quickly became one of our favorite spots to start our day and wind down at night. I would highly recommend staying at The Celestine. We had turn-down service nightly, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the amenities of a new hotel but with the character and history that you would expect to find in New Orleans.
