This Holiday Inn Express offers a convenient location near the French Quarter and generally features clean rooms, comfort, and complimentary breakfast, but recent reviews highlight significant operational and sanitation issues with noise, rodents, and dysfunctional amenities.
Friends, if you visit New Orleans DO NOT stay at the Holiday Inn Express at 334 O’Keefe. I repeat DO NOT STAY at this hotel. We had a horrible stay and were inconvenienced in so many ways. - When I made the reservation, I specifically requested a room away from the elevator. Tell me why they gave us a room right next to the elevator?!?? The noise kept us up and woke us up throughout our stay. - Our stay was for three nights. When we returned to our room on the second night, our key cards no longer worked. After a long day, we had to go down to the front desk to have them reactivated. - The toilet paper roll in our bathroom was hanging on by a thread. We were afraid it would fall off at any moment and we’d be charged for it. - Our last morning, we were awoken at 8:30 am to the sounds of vacuuming right outside our door followed by the sound of industrial blowers drying the carpets they decided to clean at that time. - The blowers were placed right in front of our door so we nearly tripped walking out. -When we checked in, they asked for our license plate number and we even filled out paperwork with the car info. At checkout, we find our car has been booted because the hotel staff DID NOT enter our license plate into the system!!!
Everyone was very nice and welcoming, and in a very convenient location. The free breakfast was a nice plus. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. But...and this is a big one...they got rats. Not mice, RATS. Big ones. So, if thats not you idea of fun, skip the smoking section. Or not, and enjoy the show. All in all, i would return.
Subject: Appreciation for Exceptional Service During My Stay at the Holiday Inn Express on O'Keefe Avenue in New Orleans. Dear Holiday Inn Express Manager / and Ms. K. Johnson in the Sale Office. Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at 344 O'Keefe Avenue in New Orleans, from January 11th through January 14th for my mother's and my Aunt birthday celebration. From the moment I connected with the sales office, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. K. Johnson. She helped me coordinate nine (9) rooms for my guests, with knowledge, professionalism, patience, and kindness. Ms. K. Johnson is simply amazing. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism. The front desk team made check-in seamless, and their friendly demeanor immediately made me feel welcome. THE BREAKFAST WAS FABULOUS AND THE KITCHEN STAFF WAS AMAZING. My room was SPOTLESS, COMFORTABLE, and thoughtfully prepared, reflecting the hotel's standards of CLEANLINESS and attention to detail. What truly stood out was the staff's willingness to go above and beyond. Whether it was offering helpful local recommendations, promptly attending to request, or simply greeting me with a smile each day. Every interaction made my stay more enjoyable. Please extend my thanks to their entire team for their dedication and warm Southern hospitality. I will ONLY STAY AT THIS HOTEL WHEN I VISIT NEW ORLEANS Because of the EXCELLENT STAFF. THANK YOU FOR A SENTATIONAL EXPERIENCE!
Our 4 night stay for a conference in the city was great! The free breakfast was a nice perk, the room was spacious, and the staff was lovely. One of the best parts of our stay was the hospitality provided by the staff. The breakfast attendants were nice and quick to replenish the food (which was delicious). Also, the receptionist, Peyton, was so kind and helpful in directing us on things to know for New Orleans! Peyton made our stay away from home feel more comfortable and that’s one of the things that set this hotel apart from other places I’ve stayed in New Orleans during past visits—no other hotel has a Peyton! Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, would recommend to anyone visiting the city, and would stay again in the future when in New Orleans.
Needed a room overnight before my family and I got on our cruise for christmas, the rooms were very nice, we were able to get two rooms near each other which was awesome! The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Nothing bad I can say about this particular Hotel because we only use it for one night. It is within walking distance of bourbon street, shopping, and other amenities in New Orleans. Would probably choose this hotel again when I return because it is such close proximity to the French Quarter
my husband an i stayed here over christmas, and coming from someone who works in the hotel industry i have alot to say about this hotel. #1 the a/c we had to set on 64 and still wouldnt blow cold air. So we sweat all night!! #2 all the drawers were open and no trash bags were placed in the trash cans, only strung over the side. #3 The shampoo holder in the shower was rusted and loose and wouldn't hold the containers properly so when we would use them they would come off the rack. #4 The conditioner was shampoo, housekeeping must have replaced it wrong. #5 Found blood spots on one of the pillow cases. #6 there was no bathtub only a shower, didn't care for that as i would rather take a bath. #7 The shower handle to turn on the water was loose and wouldn't turn to warm water, only scolding hot. #8 The bed was made poorly and wrinkled. Other than these issues the breakfast was good, the hotel was quite, the staff was very nice, and the location was great.
My cousin and I made a trip to see Billie Eilish, so this was the best and most convenient option for us. We loved Andre (we hope he's getting paid very well)and the breakfast was great for little travelers like us. We would stay here again and recommend you do the same.
I want to express that had the service not been WONDERFUL I totally would given the place a 1-2 star. Staff was very kind and they also good breakfast selection. The location also was very convenient; however, the bed was SO uncomfortable. It was hard and lumpy. Also the bathroom door, while a farmhouse rolling door is trendy, it was cumbersome it refused to close all the way as well as no vent, making privacy impossible. Please note this past weekend we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Montgomery before coming to this location in NOLA. Their bed was actually really comfortable and slept great, so I'm not quite sure of the inconsistency. Also no awkward door
Our stay was awesome. Bonus was The Palm & Pebble restaurant on-site. The food was unbelievable everyday! Large portions and great prices. Also, loved the Music Bingo and Truvia. Bar drinks were superb as well. Shout out to Amanda who was outstanding. Sharin at the desk was very helpful. Would stay again at this beachside establishment. Dog friendly too!
This was our first time at The Shelby and it won’t be our last. We did have a minor mixup with the type of room initially, but the staff did everything they could to make it right. We had reserved oceanfront, and though the staff had so graciously upgraded us to a larger room, it put us on the side of the building, with a view of the building next to us. Miss Nikki, was very welcoming at the front desk, and when I asked about correcting our room, she tried her best to accommodate us. Miss Sharon who is another front desk staffer was doing double duty as the bell person, and she was so helpful getting us unloaded and up to our room. Kyla (hotel management) was amazing correcting our room to reflect what we had reserved and Marvin and Tellys made the process of changing our room an absolute breeze. A couple hours after we had changed rooms, my husband realized he had forgotten his attaché in our 1st room, and Miss Sharon and the building manager (I didn’t catch her name) were so helpful in tracking it down and delivering it straight to our new room. The grounds and pool area are beautifully kept, I always saw someone cleaning or tidying something. The pool deck is gorgeous, and has plenty of furnishings to accommodate guests. The pool towels were actually a decent size, and plentiful. Unfortunately the pool isn’t heated, which would have been a huge bonus, considering it was warm enough to enjoy the outdoors, but the pool water was very cold. The hallways were clean and quiet. The beds were very comfy and we had plenty of towels and wash rags. The in-room coffee maker…meh, seemed a little on the cheap side, though I did appreciate the real glassware and ceramic coffee cups. I did love the aluminum water bottles in the rooms and the refill station next to the elevator. I guess my only real gripe would be that it’s unfortunate that the facility is cashless, because not knowing this initially made it difficult to tip the staff. It would be nice if the front desk at least had petty cash for making change…even the restaurant is cashless. So all in all my husband and I really appreciated our stay at the Shelby, and most notably Sharon, Nikki, Kyla, Tellys, Marvin and the kind woman in building management who all helped make our vacation one of our best ever in Myrtle Beach.
