Hotel Saint Vincent is a stylishly designed historic property known for excellent on-site dining and a high-energy atmosphere, often described as a 'paradise' or escape for lovers of cocktails and ambiance. However, reviews highlight notable inconsistencies regarding room amenities, specifically unreliable hot water and lighting issues, alongside significant conflicts with management over reservation cancellations.
I feel like you will see reviews fall into three camps here. One will be about drinks and the ambiance of the hotel which is very charming. Others will be about the food. Our experience with that is that it’s strays from the MML standards that you find in Austin. The consistency is lacking and service levels vary. Food can be delayed without explanation or follow up. If you order to go, your order can sit unless you diligently follow up. Some days it is great - and what you would expect. This can be fixed. Finally reviews about the rooms. MML has put a lot into making this a spot to be in New Orleans but certain things need to be addressed like the hot water. Consistently when you take a shower there is 2-4 minutes of truly hot water. This is true across multiple rooms. This is magnified by the lack of a shower door as cool air comes in and is more noticeable when the water is mildly warm. Also, the bathroom doors are hard to close and it could use a vent for both the shower and if you are in there and want privacy. My wife was frustrated by the low lighting in the room as it’s hard to do your makeup properly. The rooms are small and but pricey. All in all, this is a nice trendy spot to be and there are lots of young folks here. I just don’t know if it’s where I would stay given some of the small details that are important - and when you can get a bigger place for less.
We had a great time during our visit and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the San Lorenzo restaurant and the cocktail lounge during our visit. The food and drinks were first class. The room was nice and we loved the architectural details throughout the property. This hotel has a great vibe and it made our 35 anniversary very special.
Beautiful location. We were not hotel guests but we especially enjoyed the chapel club and Bobby was an excellent host/bartender. He was super helpful with our questions about the location as a venue and the drinks were perfect. we will be back!
I just spoke with the front desk after my husband had already called. He surprised me with this trip, but he now has the flu with a 102° fever and we missed Thanksgiving with family because of it. I was hoping to talk to someone who could walk through options with me—whether that was a refund or even just rolling the reservation to another date. Before I could even explain the situation, I was told it was “non-refundable, no matter what.” When I expressed that it felt disappointing to have no flexibility or empathy given the circumstances, I was told I was “cussing” and the employee hung up on me. Because I said “ that’s pretty shitty” If this is how guests are treated from the start, I can’t imagine what the experience would be like once actually staying there. I understand policies exist, but to show zero understanding around illness is surprising. At this point, I wouldn’t feel comfortable rebooking or staying in the future. Just a warning the front desk person was entitled and rude and we will never be visiting the st Vincent and will be spreading the word to others as well. Extremely disappointing this is what the “hospitality” industry has turned into. Also, please take the time to review the other unhappy reviews from this hotel. They all reference the front desk and lack of management, which is not at all surprising considering the phone call I just had.
The second-floor suite has three rooms: a living area, a bathroom, and a master BR suite that includes two balconies, one private and one shared. The master suite vibe had warmth, coziness, and a comfortable king-sized bed. The entire suite has vintage antiques throughout the rooms and a luxury decor that is both elegant and timeless. The bathroom suite is large with a walk-in shower, over-sized tub, sink, and a private toilet. The aesthetic appeal of this room is in the designer’s hand-painted wallpaper from the Marbles Collection: Marbles by Voutsa Wallpaper in Pattern: Turtles Have Short Legs. Must-see! There is a well-stocked mini bar/mini fridge that contains common and premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, sodas, salty snacks, and an assortment of old-fashioned candy. Both the living area and master BR have a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. If you’re a coffee aficionado, the Elizabeth Street Cafe, a French-Vietnamese restaurant, has some of the tastiest coffee/lattes and pastries. The Vietnamese latte is an outstanding coffee. San Lorenzo Restaurant and Paradise Lounge have excellent food and cocktail drinks. The Birds of Paradise cocktail from Paradise Lounge is delicious and deserved a mention. The pancake stacks on the breakfast menu at San Lorenzo are also worth mentioning and truly scrumptious! You can dine either inside or outside or order room service. The servers were prompt, focused, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The HSV may not be centrally located along a parade route, but you need only walk a few blocks to St. Charles Street to catch a New Orleans Mardi Gras parade. There is minimal noise from the street. The hotel has free parking and WiFi, is wheelchair accessible, has a pool and poolside bar, and is kid-friendly and pet-friendly. The staff at Hotel Saint Vincent are notably professional and rated highly worthy of being remembered.
Since coming back from my honeymoon in NOLA in June, I literally dream about this hotel. It is stunningly gorgeous and so well styled. It even smells good. It's such a vibe I cannot even describe it. The location is excellent for a not-so-typical NOLA trip. It's about a mile or two from the French Quarter but we loved that. It's quiet, safe, and so easy to get anywhere in the city either walking or with Uber/car. There are also tons of great bars, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance. No car required! The rooms are a bit small but nice and quiet. The balconies are huge and so nice to have when the weather is nice. Both bars are so cute and have great drinks and service. The meal we had at the hotel restaurant was literally one of our favorites of the whole trip, which is saying something for a city known for food! Front desk service was friendly and excellent. Overall, I'd come back to NOLA just to come back here. It's my personal paradise and I can't wait to come back.
This is my second stay at The Saint Vincent, and we have decided we will not stay anywhere else is NOLA. Design and attention to detail is second to none. Breakfast on patio every morning, afternoons at the pool and cocktails at Paradise. Not to forget the Elizabeth, for casual lunch, the team is so nice and the food is fresh and creative. Thank you!
One of the most beautiful hotels by far in New Orleans. Second time staying here and the esthetics alone are worth it. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful room with a pool courtyard patio. Lovely amenities and ate breakfast at San Lorenzo which I would highly recommend. When in the garden district this is my go to hotel.
I stayed for a weekend with friends to celebrate a birthday. The staff was amazing! The food in San Lorenzo was amazing and so were the drinks in Paradise Bar in the hotel. We laid by the pool every day. The staff was very nice and attentive. 5 out of 5 stars to say the least. The hotel has really interesting history and such a cool vibe. Clearly the owner put a lot of details and thought into everything even down to the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash which smell amazing! I will definitely return. Thanks again for such a memorable weekend!
Fabulous. Expensive and there are tons of tourists, but this place is a vibe. They need to change the lighting in the chapel club, and I don't like how they've changed the decor in there, but I still love it. It doesn't make sense to me that coffee is not in the tropical bar and the chapel club should be the bar that is always open late.
