The Catahoula Hotel in New Orleans is a unique boutique property praised for its charming atmosphere, central location, and friendly staff. Recent reviews highlight its proximity to the French Quarter and lively atmosphere, though some guests have noted older room features and occasional issues with amenities or cleanliness. Overall, it’s considered a great value for a memorable New Orleans experience.
AMAZING HOTEL. I literally have no idea why the reviews on here are mixed. My experience was perfect. We had everything we needed and everyone was so nice. We felt very safe and loved the BYOB rooftop. Beautiful everything. Lots of good priced parking nearby.
This is my second time staying here. It's always such a special place to stay - I can't describe any other hotel that would match my vibe more or would feel like home, and be walking distance to all the French Quarter spots. I stayed here for my birthday in March with a few close friends - The master bedroom was perfect for the rainy Sunday of our last day here, with a balcony view of the street. Don't expect luxury - expect bohemian/chill/classy.
came for the barrels on the bayou beerfest, and the french quarter jazz fest. really convenient location. walking distance to a lot of places. there was a sitting area outside the rooms that was open air and i made sure to utilize that feature. attendant was friendly and explained everything well. would definitely stay here again next time i’m in town
We read the reviews like the rest of you and thought this place was great. When we arrived the lady at the front Heather was very sweet and a pleasent host. Honestly, throughout the trip the management were super accommodating and even upgraded us to the best standard room. It’s just the room, that threw me off. It is very old, poorly ventilated, windows are lock so wed often have to leave the door open to ensure air is fresh, the toilet seat can barely stay intact, the floor and shower remind me of a prison cell, and overall just so poorly renovated. We did get a good deal, but even then I cantd say the room was worth it. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, it’s definitely sleepable, and the building has nice knick knacks, as well as the host is good. But room, was not good.
Lovely experience, great atmosphere and I felt safe traveling. I got a room and it was perfect, the shower was super nice and seeing the exposed brick and having windows that opened was so nice! All staff were super friendly and helpful! I’ll absolutely stay here again!
Great location in the heart of the central banking district. Close access to street cars and naturally anywhere you'd want to go. My room was cozy and awesome. Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. When I come back to New Orleans I'll be coming here again!
The Catahoula Hotel is hands down one of the best boutique hotel experiences in New Orleans. From the moment I arrived, the vibe was spot on. Stylish, intimate, and full of character without feeling overdone. The design is modern with a nod to classic New Orleans charm, and every detail feels intentional. The front desk host Jonny was absolutely incredible. Super helpful, communicative, and genuinely welcoming. He went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and made us feel right at home. That level of personal attention is rare and truly sets this place apart. The location is perfect, close enough to the French Quarter to walk everywhere, but just far enough to avoid the chaos when you’re ready to relax. Amazing walkability to restaurants, bars, and live music. You can step out and be in the heart of the city in minutes. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel that feels authentic, elevated, and personal, Catahoula is it. Would absolutely stay here again!
This was one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. My boyfriend and I stayed here over New Year’s to be able to join in the NOLA festivities. The location was a perfect 15 minute walking distance from the French Quarter, and there were plenty of activities and restaurants even closer than that. The hotel itself was quaint and aesthetic, with a unique overlapping floor plan that played into the old New Orleans vibe. Our room was the perfect size for two people, small but cozy with everything we needed for an overnight stay. FYI, the shower is in the room itself, almost like a college dorm, so open a window when you shower unless you want to walk back into a fog cloud with unusable mirrors. We also had a balcony with a city view and a table and chairs that we enjoyed watching some fireworks from. Every employee that we talked too was incredibly gracious and accommodating, reminding us multiple times to let them know if we needed anything at all. Only downside is the parking. We ended up spending over $100 for one night since we had to park in public parking on a major holiday. Overall, an absolutely amazing stay in the heart of New Orleans.
Great location and friendly staff. Awesome vibe. Our room matched what we expected from the pictures. The room was a little scant on amenities: there was no iron, mini-fridge, or coffee maker, but we knew that when we booked it. It would have been nice to have some hangers for the clothing rod, and nightstands for the bed would have been helpful too. The common area was a nice spot to hang out and the coffeepot in the lobby was always well-stocked.
Staying for a week at Catahoula was a great experience. The hotel is super conveniently located in New Orleans's CBD, allowing to walk to all of the city center. The building and interior's space is really nice and chill, in striking contrast to the surrounding area. The room was clean and confortable and the private terrasse was a nice addition. It was quiet at night except occasionally due to other noisy guests. The hotel staff are very friendly and attentive, and responded to all my requests with the utmost care. All in all, a specially great hotel, and at an affordable price. Thank you Catahoula!
