The Dew Drop Inn offers an immersive New Orleans experience with rich historical charm and creative amenities, but recent guests cite significant operational failures including water outages, lack of management accountability, and booking cancellations.
As a tourist visiting New Orleans, I want to start by saying Dew Drop In is truly a 5-star concept. It’s more than a place to stay — it feels like a piece of history. A piece of African American history and American history. The property itself is beautifully curated, and the rooms look exactly as pictured online and on Airbnb. What you see is what you get. The bed was comfortable, and the design details and character of the space were thoughtful and intentional. That said, the rooms are indeed small and minimalistic, just as many Airbnb reviews mention. You can hear hallway noise clearly, so keep that in mind if you’re a light sleeper. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a water main break. While I fully understand that the property is not responsible for city infrastructure issues, I do believe better preparedness is necessary — especially in New Orleans, where water main breaks can happen. There was no running water available for brushing teeth, flushing toilets, or basic hygiene. We were told notification came around 4 a.m., but by 8:30 a.m. there was still no meaningful support for guests. The only water on-site was being used for coffee service, and bottled water was not provided to residents period. In situations like that, some level of guest assistance or contingency planning would go a long way. To add insult to injury my non coffee drinking husband was charged for a can of ginger ale. Additionally, I was looking forward to the jazz experience advertised, but during our stay the scheduled event was canceled. I later learned the dining room also appears to operate only during event times, which is helpful to know when planning a visit. Overall, this is a culturally rich and beautifully designed property with strong historical significance. With improved emergency preparedness and clearer communication about amenities and event schedules, it could truly be exceptional
We LOVED the Dew Drop Inn. Stayed 3 nights. Perfect decor and accommodations, combination of fresh and comfy. So special to stay in this historic spot. Warm and helpful staff. Look forward to coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
My family and I visited the Dew Drop Inn & Lounge to attend the Legends of the Dew Drop Inn: Road to Rock & Roll Brunch, and it was fantastic. Hosted and narrated by Tanyell Quian, with songs masterfully performed by James Jordan, Jaudai, and Nicole Washington. Shout out to the musicians as well, because their remarkable talent reminded me of my dad jamming out to all those Rock & Roll legends back in the gap. The food and service was stellar and we really enjoyed the tour by the owner Curtis Doucette. I love history, so learning about the Dew Drop Inn and its origins by Frank Painia and his family was a gem. I can only imagine what it was like to have the likes of Fats Domino, James Brown, Tina Turner, Patsy Vidalia, Ray Charles and so many more perform live under this roof. I loved my time here and I will definitely be back.
The door man was the height of charm! I wish ALL door men were that personable and present, and I’m pretty sure he was handsome, too, while I’m at it though that isn’t relevant, to me! Haha. Just think he deserves the extra compliment! The venue was great and the energy infectious. Lerved eeet!
This spot is a gem! Intimate enough to feel at home. Big enough to roam and enjoy the pool and outside terraces. Feel the history, almost hear the rhythms of musical icons including Ray Charles, Little Richard, Tina Turner and more who found respite at the Historic Dew Drop Inn. Staff took care of us like family. AJ gave us a behind the scenes experience that was like being backstage on opening night! Deja Lynn knew which direction to point us. And, Ms. Renada made sure we had everything we needed. Extended our stay due to travel delays--and the good times kept rolling! If I had to pick one drawback--we're going to miss Big Freedia's big birthday party next week! For sure found a home away from home at the Dew Drop Inn.
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Beautiful rooms, beautiful space, beautiful and kind people: Harold, Zaina, just EVERYONE was so kind. The Dew Drop is a living archive and I am so grateful to have learned so much and be in a space that has cultivated and continues to cultivate safety, love, joy and creativity. I can’t wait to come back.
Love the Dew Drop and will definitely be back to stay again. My bestie and I visited NOLA during Halloween & for the Anne Rice Celebration of Life. Only about 10 minutes from the district. We stayed in the Irma Thomas room. The staff is remarkable, our room was perfect. The pool looked lovely but too cool to get in at this time. Beautiful old cemeteries in walking distance. The neighborhood is lovely
Love it here. We didn't want a holiday inn or fancy place. We wanted the new orleans feel the history. We found it. This place is amazing. Clean , staff are over the moon. Not far from bourbon st. Love it here. Bed super comfortable. Will be back.
Didn't get a room but I did visit the club/bar and even though I stopped drinking alcohol? They have some of f the best mixed non alcoholic drinks I have ever had. My server was so nice and the music was great. I will be going back soon
Everyone was friendly. The room was clean and cold, and the bed was super comfy. We were greeted coming in and out of the building. In a great spot. Not far from French Market.
