Contempra Inn offers a budget-friendly option near the New Orleans airport and I-10, appealing to travelers prioritizing value and convenience. While many guests praise the cleanliness, staff friendliness, and included amenities like a refrigerator and microwave, some reviews have highlighted issues with room upkeep, noise complaints, and occasional customer service concerns. Overall, it seems to be a reliable choice for short stays, particularly for those seeking a basic and affordable accommodation.
Considering the cost for our stay, we would stay again. The front desk attendant was very pleasant considering we rolled up after midnight. The rooms are quite small, a little run down, but clean and quiet. I love the little rubber duck they left for us!
Exceptional in Every Way! I travel for business all over the US. I stay at high end, mid end, and budget hotels. I have to say No other hotel is a better value that the Contempra Inn. It is my go to place to stay in New Orleans area and has been for 15 years. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. The housekeepers do a fantastic job. The rooms are very clean in fact better than some high end hotels I’ve stayed at! The rooms are comfortable the beds are wonderful and I have always had a good nights sleep there. They always have little gift surprises which are a high class touch. The variety of TV channels is more that ANYWHERE I have ever stayed at, it’s over 300 maybe more. The full Refrigerator and separate Freezer and microwave is what you would pay more for anywhere else like a studio or extended stay place both kit as nice as the Contempra Inn. They have a nifty personal fan what is adjustable both in speed and placement by the bed which is awesome is you like a little breeze wich that wonderful lavender smell. In the 15 years and many times staying there I have as always safe and comfortable. What I like about them is they get all the guests in property info and that is First Class because you won’t check in and later find some party next door. It is kept quiet and monitored. They don’t put up with anyone making noise or smoking by anyone’s room. They respect the guests and I have always seen it that way. It is a budget hotel no pool, restaurant, gym. If you want those you need to find a more expensive option. For me it is exactly as it says and I recommend it highly. Just stayed for Mardi Gras, these guys are awesome! Thank you guys!!!!
I don't normally write reviews, but I stayed overnight with my partner and was bothered by the happenstance at this inn. Rooms were serviceable; a bit downtrodden (mostly the bathroom), but still clean enough to be comfortable in. However, the problem began around 9pm, where started a constant and loud banging and scraping sound, as though another room somewhere within the building was being renovated. We tried to ignore it for a while, but by 11pm it was still going and disturbing any possibility of sleep. My partner got up to ask the front desk what the noise was about, and he was told that they would "check in on it." Hours passed with no word or explanation for the banging, and it did not cease until well after 2am. I enjoyed my stay otherwise, but unfortunately I cannot recommend it unless you are willing to risk losing a night of sleep. (The highway is also very noisy in the morning, but that is not the fault of the inn itself.)
I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel during check-in on February 16. The front desk associate was polite, but the employee supervising her (Steven Phillips), who appeared to be a manager, was extremely rude and unprofessional. When he asked for the second guest’s ID, I simply asked why this was required, since I travel frequently and have never been asked for this before. Instead of explaining the hotel’s policy, he became defensive and made sarcastic comments under his breath. When I addressed the situation, he responded by saying, “I’m just giving you the same energy back,” which was shocking and completely inappropriate. He continued to make negative remarks and handled the situation in a very confrontational and dismissive way. This is not how customers should be treated, especially when they are simply asking a reasonable question. A professional manager should know how to communicate clearly and respectfully. Although the room itself was nice, the customer service was unacceptable. Because of this experience, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides proper customer service training to prevent other guests from having a similar experience.

Best Clean Safe Hotel for a inexpensive price The Rooms are Clean and Large the extras are wonderful to have. The staff is awesome always ready to help. I love Melvin the Rubber Duck. I love the decorations and the great amenities. I have stayed maybe 10 different times and never had any issues. It seems to be well run and safe. Comfortable and never had any issues everything worked and it is close to many restaurants and Walmart. It is easy to get to and to get to I-10 and you are in the French Quarter or at the Superdome in 15-20 minutes. Airport in 5 minutes. The price cannot be beat and I’ve paid more at other places that fall far short of the quality Contempra offers. One of my stays the City was hit with a freezing storm I noticed all the city was dark because the power went out. We never lost power at all the computer worked, refrigerator and everything worked when no where else did. They have their own generator that comes on instantly when power is lost! From the hotel I saw Doubletree, Red Roof, the Wyndom directly across the street. You know what all of those hotels were dark no lights, even the traffic lights were off. We had power at the Contempra but all the others at higher prices were in the dark. This gem of a hotel will always be my choice anywhere near New Orleans Area.
I really wish I had read the recent reviews before booking this hotel. My stay was a disaster from start to finish. First, I was charged twice at check-in with no clear explanation. The staff claimed one charge was a deposit and promised a refund, but I never received it. My bank is currently investigating this as a fraudulent charge. The room itself was dirty and infested with roaches. The environment felt unsafe, and I could hear people banging on the walls constantly. To make matters worse, staff knocked on my door an hour before checkout time and rudely told me to "pack up and get out" without any reason. When you read their responses to bad reviews, you can see they constantly make up excuses instead of telling the truth. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.
Spoke with Sarah today. She is so nice and helped answer all my questions! Booked my stay for Mardi Gras. Looking forward to an awesome time with family and friends!
I've been coming to this hotel for two years, and spend great money. Staying multiple nights; I recently inquired about issues regarding my stay. Which is a drainage issue, roaches and a dipped in very uncomfortable bed. I literally couldn't sleep and sat in my car, for four hrs; waiting for a decent time. To inform the staff, usually the customer service is awesome. Buuu I've never had an issue, until now. The whole experience has changed. I was told they'll contact management and I'll have to basically wait around for maintenance. Buuu how would that fix the bed issue?? Can I just change rooms and I was told I'll still have to wait; when I've already been inconvenience the first night. If this is how they treat loyal customers then I definitely don't recommend anyone to stay here. Times is too hard for bad customer service and wasted money! And it's not the staff, their only the face; it's the owner... I have no reason to lie on anyone ma'am! You hotel is nasty ma'am, I literally have to clean my own room. When it should be clean on arrival. Y'all only make the bed love, I keep coming because it was convenient. This is so unprofessional, I can literally upload all my receipts; of Christopher and I stay. But I guess this is what you get for the cheap price huh. I guess I brought the roaches and dipped in, uncomfortable bed too huh. This is Ludacris, I guess that's why everyone was checking out mad and leaving before check out this morning huh .. buuu this is why I took pictures and videos. Your rude response, let me know what kind of person you are. Lady, I even bring my own covers. And thank you for letting me know you keep camera in the room; that's a violation of privacy. Bless up... Pictures don't lie!!
Good option for value-conscious travelers. The location is convenient—close to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (expect some aircraft noise), restaurants, and I-10 access. However, the property shows noticeable signs of wear and could benefit from better upkeep. Parking is also very tight, making it difficult to get in and out of spaces. Overall, it works for a quick, budget-friendly stay, but travelers looking for more comfort or better-maintained facilities may want to consider other nearby motels.
